  • Oh, my goodness! I just recently found out about Tony’s passing. His mom and dad were friends with my mom and dad and so we kind of grew up together. I knew him as Tony, and we were the same age. I was 13 when my mom passed away, I moved away and no longer lived with my dad, and unfortunately, I lost touch with Tony. I found out from my dad later that Tony’s mom passed away and then his dad just a year afterwards. I never knew at the time. Then one day, Tony phoned me to say he was going to Holland the next day to go and visit. I asked him to call me and we said that when he got back, we would get together. I never heard from him again. I thought maybe he might have stayed there, seeing there was nothing here for him-no parents, no siblings. I would look for him over the years and see if I could find out about him. But nothing ever. Maybe because I was looking for Tony, I never knew him as Bert. From what I am reading, he sounds exactly how I remember his dad. Great sense of humour, kind and generous to everyone. I have a picture of the 2 of us at age 3 sitting together at my parent’s house in front of a Christmas Tree, and another one where we are sitting in a arm chair together, and yet one more where we had a kiss. I’ve looked at those pictures over the years-again wondering what may have happened to him. I am so sorry that I was never able to see him again. I am so happy to hear that he found someone to fill his life with love. Rest in Peace Tony. My condolences and deepest sympathy Cesne, I am very sorry for your loss. • Dearest Cesne, We were shocked to see Tony's obituary recently. We knew him as Tony. He was our best man 43 years ago. He disappeared from our lives, stories were told he had moved to Europe. Unfortunately, we just got disconnected. His home on Horton Ave was the gathering place for all the neighborhood boys on the street. Always music, laughter and fun and of course beer! We were with him when his Dad died, a really, really hard time in his life. Both parents gone at such a young age. He bought me a beautiful Gold Cross Pendant, which I still have and treasure. And seeing it always made me wonder, what really did happen to him. Now we have peace knowing he found the love of his life and was happy! Reading the tributes from friends and coworkers are telling. He had a generous heart, kindness to all, stories, humor, and a sharp quick wit. So really the young man we knew and loved as Tony did not change. And the picture of him with his cat is one we would have taken 45 years ago. So very sorry for your loss Cesne. You have an angel you know now.
