  • I met Darrel for the first time while working at Oakwood golf course. He and his brother Gary were members of the club for over 20 years and referred to as the Hurd brothers and they were undoubtedly the clubs best customers. Always charming and guaranteed to makes us laugh. People would often mix up their names but Darrell was called Gary quite often by many. He was so gracious about it cause he said Gary is a great guy so he took it as a compliment. Darrell and I became very close over the past 10 years and was always there for me in good times and bad. He had a sense of humour that could make a bad day turn good after hanging out with me and finding the humour in my troubles. He was a hard working man all of his life but finally gave himself the luxury of retirement and spent his time appreciating his home and yard and extended it generously to his family and friends (and vacationed at the Gulf of Mexico! ooh yeah!). He spoke so highly of his amazing friends Larry and Connie and was truly grateful for having them arrange their extended vacations and the time he shared with them and Gary. Darrell was always happy to see you and always there to share a drink, some laughs and maybe even a dance. He was quite the fancy dancer with a strong lead. I sure miss our visits and listening to his soothing music that would bring back memories of days gone by. He was sharp and strong to the end. Although it is so hard to accept that you are gone there is peace knowing that you are with Nikky now flying with the Eagles. Their songs will live on in me as my memories of you. I love you and miss you dearly and I am truly grateful for all the times that we were there for each other. - Posted by: Natalie Armstrong (Close friend) on: Jun 22, 2021

  • Darrell has been such a great friend to me for over 15 years. He was kind and caring, and always had time to lend a ear. I will miss sitting on his deck listening to music and having some great laughs. I'm truly going to miss this great and wonderful man. - Posted by: Christina Barto (Best Friend) on: Jun 19, 2021
