I became aquainted with George through the hobby of licence plate collecting, and had the chance to communicate with him through letter writing and phone calling back in the early 1980's. I heard he slept on his couch because he had so many old licence plates in his residence. Was sorry to find out about his passing, and my sincerest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace with God, George, until we meet again and look at our old licence plates. - Posted by: Thomas Baird (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2025

George was a very dear friend to many of us in our Jehovah's Witness faith for decades. I've personally known him for 36 years and appreciated his great sense of humour and kind nature, in spite of the many difficulties he faced in life with his health. We look forward to seeing him again in a better world when the earthy paradise mentioned in the Bible will be restored. Condolences to his family, many whom we met at his video Memorial. - Posted by: Barb (Long-time friend) on: Dec 30, 2021

My condolences to family and friends of George. I'm sure I've had direct connections with George over the years through our shared membership in the licence plate club. I'm sure his name is documented as to origin on several of the plates in my collection. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: David Steckley (fellow licence plate collector in Ontario ) on: Jul 06, 2021

It was a nice surprise to see George do his trades through mail, he was a very nice and kind man and seemed to have an infinite passion to collecting and presumably, for all that he did. May George rest in peace, I'll cherish your plates! - Posted by: Dan Fern (Fellow ALPCA Member) on: Jun 22, 2021

I had the privilege of knowing George for the last 32 years. I also became acquainted with him through our shared interest in license plate collecting. It was actually my seeing a display about license plates that George had set up at the Centennial Library (now Millennial) in 1989 that piqued my interest in getting in touch with him. Since meeting him at that time he was my main source of starting and building my own collection. Not long after that I discovered that we also shared the same faith, that of being Jehovah's Witnesses. We also shared a love for cats. Since my moving to Calgary 25 years ago George and I continued to keep in touch through letter writing. I will certainly miss George. He was a very kind person whose deep belief in the Bible gave him the positive attitude that he needed through all the health issues he faced through most of his life. - Posted by: Melvin Orr (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2021

My deepest condolences to George's family. Sadly I only met George four years ago as we shared interest in license plate collecting. I spent many hours with George listening to his stories about his lifelong passion. I posted Georges obituary on couple of license plates Facebook groups I'm active in and receive many messages with condolences from his friends around the world. Your license plates friends will forever cherish memories of you. Rest in peace George. - Posted by: Eugene Skotniczy (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2021
