It is with heavy hearts that we say so long to our Halloween loving Christmas spirit Elwera.
She is survived by her husband Clayton; daughters, Melanie (Cory) and Andrea; as well as grandchildren, Gretchen and Hunter. She is also survived by mother Lilly; siblings Lilly (Tom), Vern and Adele (husband Jeff and son Garrett). Vera is predeceased by her father Peter.
Known as Vera by most, she began life in Paraguay but soon arrived in Winnipeg. From a young age, she loved striking up a conversation with just about anyone. She loved hearing about other people's stories, where they came from, what made them happy and empathizing with their pain. This trait stayed with her for life, as she grew into a young woman, loving wife, adoring mother then ecstatic grandmother. Vera often worked in clerical and administrative capacities. Her real love was for family life. Caregiving and selflessness seemed to be at her core, and she loved being with family wherever they went. That meant visiting friends and family, training dogs, going to craft shows, walking, but especially camping.
A private family service will be held in the future, and her family will carry her in their hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a pediatric program of CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Our deepest sympathies to Clayton: loving husband daughter's: Melanie, Andrea and families. Vera had enjoyed Halloween and Christmas to the extreme. Maybe that is why Clayton had to rest for a week lugging 50 boxes of decorations. It wasn't unusual to see the house decorated for all seasons but Christmas and Halloween being the ultimate. Witches flying, cackling laughter echoing, and Vera dressed in witches regalia to top it off. Christmas music, wreaths and decorations galore. Vera was in her element. As friends we enjoyed many lifes adventures. Card games, golf cart excursions, bocce ball and camping. The best part we were also neighbors popping in and out of each other's house. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I met a tremendous woman, a great friend, loving mother and grandmother. Vee, this isn't farewell. It's until we meet again. Memories eternal. Vichnya Pamyhat. Love Susan, Randy and family. - Posted by: Susan Linne Bordun (Friend and neighbor ) on: Jun 21, 2021
