GEORGE FREDRICK BYE
of Winnipeg, Manitoba
1935 - 2021
He leaves behind a legacy that inspired many, including his 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren in Canada and Israel.
Dad was predeceased by his father Robert, mother Dora (The Matriarch), brother Bob; sisters, Ardis and Betty, and other family members too numerous to mention.
Dad is survived by brother Leonard (Marie-Paule), sister Karen Anne, and many precious foster brothers and sisters and their families.
Dad loved to retreat at the family compound in Sandy Hook where, during construction, he was known as 'The Insulator!' Dad loved to golf, curl, play bridge, crib and farkle or to just sit peacefully on a pier. He was a 'collector of collectables'. He enjoyed playing and watching any sport! Most music moved him to goose bumps and tears. Dad liked to travel in his motorhome with the family or go on boat cruises with Mom. He loved observing nature and people in general. He was so proud of each family member and spoke of all with such love and admiration.
After 50 years, Dad retired from being a life insurance agent and his son Darren and grandson Bryan continued servicing his clients. During his long career, he inspired thousands as a motivational speaker at many conferences. Everyone became part of his family as he loved to love! He served the Filipino community and helped in their immigration and assimilation into the Canadian lifestyle. His radio commercial ended with "Never say good-bye to George Bye!"
Dad will always be remembered for his optimism and positive approach to living life to the fullest. Throughout his life, he overcame many adversities and health challenges. He demonstrated that "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" and always encouraged us to take the 't' off of can't. Dad's presence will be missed tremendously but as siblings on Father's Day, we celebrated that our earthly father was forever united with our Heavenly Father.
We would like to thank Chantal and her Seine River Residence staff and WRHA who showed such grace and professionalism in caring for Dad. A special shout out to his favourite nurse, his daughter Corinne, and primary nurse Robyn, and he never stopped raving about Olaladie and Morrie.
We plan to gather for a memorial this summer. Arrangements are in care of Thomson In The Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to pray for George's dear wife Angie as she journeys into this new chapter of life.

We are very saddened so deeply for George passing. I remember in late '75 he came to our household in Saskatoon. He's our insurance agent. A very kind person like a father to us. We're all excited whenever he comes to Saskatoon. Of course we have to prepare something for all of us to eat and what George loves to eat. Sending our sympathy to the family of George and to wife Angie. He's been a part of our journey but will still remember him. May he rest in peace with the Lord. Thank you George Bye. - Posted by: Angelina Gonzales (Friend from far away) on: Jun 29, 2021
