JOYCE MARY CATON
November 18, 1921 - June 11, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joyce Mary Caton (nee Veals), at the wonderful age of 99.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Daniel Townley.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Dana (Ken recently deceased) and Cindy (Kevin); son Paul (Marcia); grandchildren, Jeff (Kareen), Chris (Alana), Lisa, Brian, and Carolyn (Rudy); as well as four great-grandchildren, Haley, Owen, Emma and Jaden. Mom also has many relatives in parts of Canada, England, Spain and the United States who will miss her greatly.
Mom was born in London, England and was so very proud of her English heritage and holding two citizenships. She made the passage by ship in the early 1920s and resided in St. James. In 1948, Mom married Danny at St. Edward's Parish and they were together for 70 years until his passing in 2018. Mom was trained as a comptometer operator and worked for the Canadian Wheat Board and the City of Winnipeg for many years. Mom had a love for David Austin Roses and every summer her yard was an array of colour and beauty. Mom also enjoyed cooking, baking and raising her family. A great many holiday meals were enjoyed around the dining room table leaving us with lots of wonderful memories.
The family would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Palliative Care and the staff at Brightwater Senior Living for the wonderful and compassionate care Mom received.
A special mention for our baby sister whose loving daily care gave Mom much happiness after Dad's passing. We are truly grateful.
A family Mass will take place in the next week or two. Live stream links will be distributed to friends and family around the world.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Smile Canada.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I truly cherished the friendship of both Danny and Joyce. I met Danny earlier when I worked at Bristol Aerospace. Joyce was always so welcoming, friendly, and caring too. I often enjoyed a visit and having coffee and breakfast with them at the Birchwood Inn after Church. - Posted by: Marj Wright (Friend ) on: Jun 26, 2021
