BETTY MCVARISH
September 17, 1930 - June 17, 2021

We are saddened to announce the passing of Betty McVarish, only child of Harry and Agnes Taylor, on June 17, 2021, after a brief illness.
Betty was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and had enjoyed painting ceramics for many years. There was no shortage of garden gnomes in our family. To keep active, she continued working as a Merchandiser with Carleton Cards until she was 86.
She is survived by son Gary (Teri Corcoran), Geoff (Lucy MacKenzie) and Kaitlin of Vancouver; daughter Deb Hnatiw (Bill), Heather Wassing (Chad) and Ben (Jen Campbell); and son Darcy (Colleen), Alex (Bretton) and Tyler, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Lily, Jack and Maisy. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Dennis McVarish (Olga). She was predeceased by her husband Barney in 2015.
Honouring a long time desire, her body has been donated to the University of Manitoba.
At Betty's request, there will be no service.

  • Condolences to Betty's family, I worked many years at Carlton Cards with her and also did some ceramics with her. She was a great person, not afraid of work. We had great times and lunches together. Bev Bettens - Posted by: Beverley Bettens (Friend and co-worker) on: Jun 26, 2021
