PASQUALE CASCEGNA
March 30, 1929 - June 25, 2021

"Something thing that is loved is never lost."

Peacefully, with his beloved wife Lucia, of 70 years, by his side, Pasquale Cascegna, passed away at Riverview Health Centre on June 25, 2021, at 92. Pasquale was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sisters, daughter Agata, and many extended family members.
Pasquale will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his cherished and devoted wife Lucia (Di Cicco), his children, Filomena (Frank), Adriana (Carmine), Attilio (Rommy), son-in-law Fioravante, siblings, Nicola and Angiolina, grandchildren, Sabino (Anna), Pasquale (Sherri), Marco (Pam), Saveria (Dero), Gisella (John), Luigi, Primiano (Kyla), Tio (Leanne), Fabio (Anna), Devano (Mikayla), Selena (Nick), numerous nephews, nieces and 14 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Pasquale was born in Civitaluparella Provincia di Chieti (Abruzzo), Italy, on March 30, 1929. He had joined the Italian Alpini Militare at the age of 20. Upon returning from the military at the age of 22, he soon found the love of his life, Lucia Di Cicco, also from Civitaluparella. They married in January 1952 and had three daughters while living in Italy. Pasquale immigrated to Canada in 1962, and his wife and daughters arrived two years later. They lived in Toronto for one year before settling down in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the family grew by one, with the addition of their son. He enjoyed working 25 plus years for the CPR as a Carman helper and loved to garden in his spare time.
His joy was entertaining friends and family by playing a great Tarantella on the accordion during numerous get-togethers.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held at the Holy Rosary Church on Saturday, July 3.
A special thank you goes out to all the staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E for their exceptional care and support.

Papa, you will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. Love you, Papa.

  • Our hearts go out to the families that lost their dad and great grandfather, he was a very generous and caring man, he will be missed by all, we give our sincere condolences to everyone and especially to our dear friend Attilio - Posted by: Rose and Gabriel Garcea (Friends) on: Jul 02, 2021

  • I, Dero Sabatini, am the husband of Pasquale’s granddaughter Saveria. Through an interesting web of culture and work relationships at CPR, I came to know my wife of 29 years and Nonno Pasquale. My father and him often had the same lens on life. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to move to a new country. But to do that with a legacy of having raised and supported multiple generations of amazing people……you have exemplified what life is about. God Bless You. - Posted by: Dero Sabatini (Grandson - in - law) on: Jun 30, 2021

  • My sincerest condolences to Lucia and the Cascegna family. I knew Pasquale from the condo. He could frequently be seen enjoying walks on the grounds, and throughout the building. He liked to make sure things were well taken care of. He was such a friendly neighbor to talk to, and always quick with an invite to join him and Lucia for an espresso and ice cream. May God be with you and give you comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Stefania Zimarino (neighbour and friend) on: Jun 30, 2021

  • My sincerest condolences to Adriana and her family for their loss. May God give you all comfort and strength during this difficult time. - Posted by: Jacinthe Dandeneau (Friend of daughter, Adriana) on: Jun 30, 2021
