MELISSA SHAKIRA RAMPERSAD
1977 - 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Melissa Shakira Rampersad (nee Hutchinson) who passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 44 years.
Melissa is now reunited with her parents, Shirley and Robert Hutchinson (deceased). She was taken far too soon from her loving family: her husband Manoje Rampersad, son Noah and daughter Shakira. She will be missed immensely by the Rampersad family, including her mother–in-law Sandra Rampersad, sisters-in-law, Naline, Rohna and Natasha, brothers-in-law, Dave and Michael, her nephews, Rohnin and Jonah, and niece Talina.
She also leaves behind to mourn her uncle Nick Ali, sister Anisha Hutchinson, her nieces, Nikkita and Amelia, nephew Aeden and her cousins, Sean and Alicia Ali.
Melissa was a proud, loving and supportive mother who cheered and celebrated her son and daughter's every success and accomplishments. She was a loyal and compassionate friend who loved to laugh and spend time with loved ones. She also loved her three puppies that she doted on every single day.
Gone far too soon, Melissa will be dearly missed and remembered forever by those who loved her.
A private funeral was held at the Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Melissa was the best sister and aunt that anyone could ever have asked for, not one day goes by that I don’t think about you. I miss you so much it’s unbearable, but little sister I know that you are finally at peace with Mom & Dad. I love you so much ❤️ Until we meet again fly high my beautiful angel ❤️ - Posted by: Anisha H (Sister) on: Jul 25, 2021

  • We are so very sorry for your loss of Melissa. She was a sweetheart with a beautiful smile. And she did make a good roti! I had never had one nor knew what they were and when she mentioned in her interview that she made them I jokingly said " Well you need to bring me one!" and one day there they were - 2 of them. Very delicious. And Melissa really didn't need to do that but she did. Our condolences to all of her family and friends. - Posted by: Rhonda Stockburger (former employer) on: Jul 07, 2021

  • I always remember the day I met Melissa and her sister years ago. Both strikingly beautiful with the cutest British accents and always inseparable. My deepest sympathy. Let her light and love of life fill our hearts. RIP Melissa - Posted by: Melinda Ingleton (aunt) on: Jul 05, 2021

Melissa's roti's were the best and I will miss chatting with her when I came down the block to her house to pick them up. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Tavares family (neighbour/friend) on: Jul 05, 2021
