TOMASINA DE NEGRI
(nee VENDRAMELLI)
March 23, 1952 – July 2, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Tomasina De Negri.
She will be missed and remembered by her husband Giovanni, children, Claudia (Eric) and Mario; and grandchildren, Mattea and Luca, her greatest pride and joy.
Also mourning her loss are her siblings, Loris (Donna), Mike (Anna), and Mara (Tim); brothers and sisters-in-law, Renato (Maria) and Nadia (Walter) and their families; her nieces and nephews, Jeff (Stephanie), Richard (Stepanka), Robert (Vanessa), Mark (Chantelle), Alessandro (Ashley), Sara (Steven), Stefania (Kyle), Adriana (Victor), Nicoletta (Alex), and Adam; and great-nieces and nephews, Noah, Nicholas, Ella, Samuel, Briar, Owen, Avery, Emma and Olivia. She will be missed by her cousins, Anna Maria (Carlo), Danny, their families in Winnipeg, as well as other relatives in Canada, the United States and Italy. Tomasina was predeceased by her parents, Pierluigi and Emma Vendramelli, nephew Nicholas, father and mother-in-law Mario and Giuseppina De Negri and brother-in-law Carlo.
She was born in Vittorio Veneto, Treviso, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her mother and her younger brother Loris, and joined her father who was already here. They settled in Virden, Manitoba. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1958 where she lived until her passing. She was married in 1972 with complete commitment to the love of her life with him by her side in her final moments. She took pride in the work she did at Gendis and Richlu Manufacturing. She was a passionate cook who fed everyone, loved flowers, being outside and her favourite pastime of spending her mornings reading her books. Most of all what made her happiest was being in a home taking care of her family and friends regardless of what they were doing. She was perfectly content to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and that is what brought her joy.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Winnipeg, MB with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance at the mass will be restricted to family only. The service can be viewed on the Holy Rosary Church YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/o29XciZAWJI. Entombment at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. will also be limited to only family.
The family wants to thank the WFPS for their prompt response and assistance as well as the staff at Grace Hospital Emergency for their compassion and help. We also want to thank Dr. Poon and Dr. Roche at Assiniboine Clinic for their years of care.
Flowers graciously declined, donations can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation in her name.

Condolences & Memories (18 entries)

  • I had the privilege of meeting Tomasina but a few times (when she brought freshly prepared meals in for Claudia that made her co-workers extremely envious). She was kind, gracious, and humble. On one occasion, I told her how much Claudia had helped me when I first started working in health care. She replied by saying that she'd tried to teach her children the importance of helping others and also telling me how proud she was of the person Claudia had become. My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Claudia and her family. - Posted by: Sean Petty ((Former co-worker of Claudia)) on: Jul 20, 2021

  • I only just found out about Tomasina's passing a few moments ago and was in disbelief. I first met Tomasina at Gendis Head Office when I got my first full-time job after graduating from university. As a fellow Italian and warm-hearted person, Tomasina took me under her wing. After I left Gendis, we continued to keep in touch and saw each other on Sundays at church always catching up about our families. Her beautiful spirit and smile will be missed. My deepest condolences to the family. Riposa in pace cara amica. - Posted by: Michelina Violi (friend and former Gendis co-worker) on: Jul 13, 2021
