VERNA WUSATY
(nee UNGRIN)
August 22, 1940 - July 2, 2021
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Terylene (Robert) and Lenora (Edward); granddaughters, Stacey (Kevin) and Courtney (Tyler); grandsons, Riley and Tyler, and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Briella and Huxtin. As well, she leaves her siblings, James (Rose) and Clayton (Colleen), and will always be remembered by her many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Mom loved to be outside, especially in the summer. You could find her tending to her gardens, raising chickens, and helping Dad on their farm just outside of Libau. She went to teachers' college and taught in a one room schoolhouse before starting her most beautiful journey of being a mother. She was such a proud grandmother and her great-grandchildren held her heart.
Mom loved to cook and was known for her traditional 12 meatless dishes at Christmas; that turned into 25, with enough leftovers for everyone. She cooked for fall suppers, many dinners at the church and adored dancing with Dad at the hall banquets. Mom was the happiest when she had a house full to feed so she could make perogies, roast a chicken and cook the best potatoes ever.
Once retired, Mom and Dad loved travelling to Mexico, Florida, Hawaii and Cuba with their families, and were never far apart from one another. The two of them enjoyed 55 years of marriage and an amazing life together, before his passing almost four years ago. He took part of her with him when he left, and it brings us some comfort to know they are together again.
No matter who she met she always had a pleasant greeting and left a lasting impression on the hearts of many. Her family would like to extend a sincere thank you to home vare as well as the staff at the Betel Personal Care Home that assisted her during her short stay. A gracious thank you to Dr. Randune, Dr. Sexton and especially Dr. Brown who gave Mom comfort during her last days. And additionally, the nursing staff at the Selkirk & District General Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
Come sit down and visit,
We can only stay for awhile,
We know that Dad is holding you close,
But we can still feel your smile,
Be together again,
It's okay to go,
We love you and will remember you,
More than you will ever know.
In keeping with her wishes, a private family service will be held.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I met Verna over 24 years ago, when there used to be Flea Markets at the local hall. She was such a loving warm person and I will always remember her kindness to me and others. We also attended the church dinners in June and ha a nice visit. She will be missed and loved. Sincere sympathy to her daughters and extended family.
