VICTORIA BOWMAN
(nee ARTES)
September 9, 1925 - June 30, 2021
She was predeceased by her loving husband George William Rodgers Bowman in 2001. Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Craig and Bruce as well as her daughter Wendy; grandchildren, Carrie, Chris, and Kaitlin as well as five great-grandchildren, Paige, Cameron, Devon, Jackson and Livia; and her first cousin Irene Hedlin.
Our mother was born in Reichenfeld, Ukraine (Russia). She made the passage by ship and arrived in Canada February 29, 1929 with her parents. They continued their journey to Winnipeg, Manitoba and settled in the north end of the city. After finishing high school she worked for a large insurance company in a secretarial position. In 1945 our mother married our father and they were together for 55 happy years. Mum worked for the Winnipeg Clinic, in the Eye Department, in a secretarial role for a number of years. She then moved to the Health Sciences Centre, Department of Surgery, until retirement at the age of 67. She was always very passionate about her work.
Mum and Dad spent many happy years travelling together. They really enjoyed every aspect of their many trips. They loved sharing all of their fun memories upon returning home.
Mum loved to read as well as knit and crochet. She made all of our baby clothes as each of us came along. She was also very good at crossword puzzles and cryptograms. She even tried her hand at gardening over the years and produced wonderful preserves.
One of her favourite memories she recently shared with me was her love of ballroom dance. She took lessons with my dad and they went on to dance for many years together whenever there was an opportunity.
The family would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team as well as Bayshore Home Health respite caregivers. She received wonderful and compassionate care.
Her ashes will be laid to rest at a later date followed by a Celebration of Life.
Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Deepest sympathy to the Bowman family. I worked in HR when your Mom was employed at HSC. We had a good friendship. She was a joy to be with and spoke of her family proudly. May you keep her memories cherished in your hearts. I attended a party at your Mum and dads home years ago. She was a lovely hostess as so was your Dad.
