Ruth was a proud seven generation Canadian, a descendant from her Ukrainian Pioneer Settlers in Manitoba (1901). Ruth was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 10, 1928, and she passed away in Toronto, Ontario on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the age of 93.
Ruth attended Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic School in Winnipeg and Central High School of Commerce (Secretarial) in Toronto and her skills led her to a 46 year career in Federal and Municipal Government Service.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Marcel Larochelle (1990); her parents, Joseph and Mary; brothers, Daniel and Ernest Ponimets. Ruth was the last of her immediate family. Ruth leaves Anne Ponimets and four generations of dear cousins.
Ruth was the family's strong and constant link between generations, sharing her love with all. Ruth's friends past and present held a special place in her life and heart.
Divine Liturgy at St. Demetrius Church, 135 La Rose Avenue, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Due to limited seating, the funeral will be webcasted as well.
