September 29, 1929 – July 1, 2021

With great sadness we announce the passing of Louise Victoria Davidson (nee Green) at the age of 91 years, our loving and devoted matriarch, beloved wife and friend to all whose lives she touched.
Oh boy... where do we start! Louise was born in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica. She seized the opportunity to live abroad and immigrated to Canada in October 1965, to have a better quality of life. Leaving the warm weather, blue water and sandy beaches behind her, Louise experienced her first Canadian winter during the notorious Winnipeg blizzard of 1966. Her dream was to work in healthcare and in 1967 she became a nurse's aide and worked for 29 years at the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital, now Riverview Health Centre. She also retired as a nurse's aide from the Sharon Home, a personal care home for the elderly.
Louise is lovingly remembered by her husband Gladstone Davidson of Winnipeg, children, Jacqueline Goodrich (Monty) of Calgary, Sandra Davidson (Tony), Kipling Davidson (Denise), Ava Davidson (Ainsley) and Andrew Davidson (Linda) of Winnipeg; as well as her grandchildren, Shari, Makida, Alexander and great-granddaughter Naliyah. She will also be missed by her brother Basil Green (Evangeline) of Winnipeg, her sister Ruth Green of Jamaica, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends (notably her lifelong friends that joined her voyage to Canada).
Louise was predeceased by her father Adolphus Green, mother May Green, eldest brother Kenton Green, sister Cinderella Green, brother-in-law George Findlay all from Jamaica, and son-in-law Albert Goodrich of Calgary.
The family would like to thank the staff at Luther Home for her short but comfortable stay there. The ER doctors and staff of St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the First Responders that did everything they could to try and keep her with us for a little longer.
A post-pandemic celebration of Louise's life will be held later. For those who wish to view the livestream ceremony please contact Chapel Lawn Funeral Home between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for information.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Parish Church of Saint Luke in Louise's honour.
The family also wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation, the many expressions of love, kindness and support showed to them during this sorrowful bereavement. Blessings to all!
