DEOLINDA ARRUDA
March 8, 1953 – July 11, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deolinda Arruda on Sunday, July 11, 2021.
Deolinda was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal where she met and married her husband Jose. Soon after, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg to raise their family.
Remaining to cherish her are daughters, Gabriela (Guy), and Paula (Jeff); grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Rachel, and Ryan; sisters, Ilda, Maria, and Serafina (Gil), and brother Jose (Joanna); many nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends.
Deolinda is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Jose, her parents, Serafina and Antonio Alves, and brother Manuel Alves.
The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph's Personal Care Home where she received amazing care with the utmost kindness and respect.
A private service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, or other charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Deolinda was a resident when my mom, Helen Sorobey, resided at St. Joseph’s Residence. Deolinda always watched out for my mom and helped her with many things throughout the day. It was always a comfort to know Deolinda was there and showed such kindness to my mom and many of the other residents at St. Joseph’s. You will always be remembered! God bless you!
