EDDA GERTRUDE IMHOF
November 29, 1950 - July 10, 2021
Edda was predeceased by her husband Horst Imhof and her mother Maria Hagenlocher. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Pamela Kreis (Aime), her grandchildren, Richard Petersen and Daniel Kreis, her father Fritz Hagenlocher, her brother Peter Hagenlocher (Evril), her nieces, Grace (Curtis) and Heidi, her nephew Samuel (Robin), and many special friendships.
Edda was born at her grandparents' home in the village of Nentershausen, Germany on November 29, 1950. Edda sailed to Canada with her parents and her younger brother Peter on the MS Seven Seas on September 5, 1959, to join her aunt, uncle and cousins in Winnipeg. Speaking only German when she arrived, she was held back in school, two years older than her classmates, and left school after Grade 10. Edda worked as a babysitter, cleaner, and nurse's aide before beginning her career with MTS at age 19 as a long distance telephone operator, often assisting customers needing a German interpreter. She completed her GED in 1984 to apply for management positions and her work responsibilities at MTS increased until her retirement in 2009.
Edda and Horst were married in 1971 and later welcomed their daughter Pamela. They enjoyed boating and entertaining family and friends until Horst's tragic passing in 1995.
Edda often said she was a grandma first and kept busy during her retirement years with picking up her grandsons, Ricky and Daniel, from school every day, helping with homework and driving the boys to various athletic activities. When she wasn't with her family, she was volunteering at The King's School or at Gateway Church. She loved being with friends, attending music festivals, live concerts, and even became a groupie for local swing band, The B Side Champs. With a sudden diagnosis and a short battle with cancer, Edda felt at peace, ready for her eternal home. She looked forward to dancing in heaven without pain and grand reunions with long-departed friends and family, where there would be lots of hugging.
Thank you to the St. Pierre-Jolys Hospital staff for your kindness and ensuring Edda's last days were peaceful.

Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing Pam. In my mind she died way too young. She deserved to be a grandmother for many more years. I'm sure you'll miss her. Keep her memories alive. - Posted by: jim farmer (Pam 's teacher) on: Aug 15, 2021

I met Edda at Gateway Church. At first, I did not realize she was Peter Hagenlocher's sister, they were so different! When I brought Mom to Gateway, it was great for Mom to find someone with whom she shared a first language. A bright and shining love shone from Edda's eyes, which came straight from a heart awakened. The turbulence of life swept me in other directions, and I saw less of Edda. But I hope we will all be reunited one day. - Posted by: Vicki Rempel (Friend) on: Aug 12, 2021

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Edda when I worked at MTS. We worked the 8p to 2 am for a few years together. We were good friends for awhile then we were all split up when we were moved to the other side. I lost touch with my MTS friends after I left. I enjoyed her stories of her time spent on their boat. She was a good friend and I'm truly sorry that we lost touch. R.I.P. Edda - Posted by: Heather Lightfoot (friend an former co worker) on: Jul 19, 2021

Sincere condolences to Pamela and Edda's family. In our youth we had a wonderful time - We socialized late into the night; on a hot summer day we travelled down the Red river enjoying the sights of the shoreline and the splashing of the waves against the boat. It was a wonderful time. Anna and Edda worked at MTS where they made many friends and enjoyed their time together.
