My sincere condolences for the loss of your brother Giovannino. I still remember when I was playing soccer many many years ago and he would always be there supporting the team. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Gianni - Posted by: Giovanni De Negri (Friend) on: Jul 29, 2021
I met Giovanni about 5 1/2 years ago. We shared stories: his about his life and whom he knew, which seemed to be more people than lived in Winnipeg; me about my family. He had stories and momentos, with stories that went with each one. He always asked about my children, grandchildren and especially my wife. I was always greeted with a cup of tea or hot water. I am honoured that Johnny (Giovanni) considered me a friend. We have been blessed to know him. God Bless you and may you Rest in Peace with Jesus and Mary. - Posted by: David (A Friend) on: Jul 19, 2021
I am very sorry to hear about the passing on my long time friend Giovanni, whom I also knew as "Johnny Honda". I met Johnny as a 14 year old in the 1970's when he had a motorcycle repair shop on Corydon Avenue. I had never seen a shop with so many boxes of parts but Johnny knew there everything was and was able to fix my 50cc mini bike and keep me on the road (er .. off road). Later Johnny fixed our family's cars at his shop on Grant at Waverley and although I lost touch with him on and off over the years seem to connect. In the last few months I had many telephone conversations with Johnny. He spoke with pride of his son Oswaldo and his ex wife who he said had worked hard to raise him. He spoke of his brother Ralph with pride. Johnny wasn't a man without faults, but who is? But he was an honest friend with a good heart. He was always interested in my siblings, mother and father and always asked about them. I recently shared pictures with him of my children (I couldn't visit due to Covid so I dropped a letter at his retirement home). He expressed such joy at receiving mail and pictures as he feeling so isolated and alone. Johnny was very appreciative of the care he received by his cardiologist and all of his caregivers. Giovanni, I hope you find peace and comfort. - Posted by: Joel Kay (Friend) on: Jul 19, 2021

“ Johnny Honda” , one of a kind man, whose nickname conjures up many pleasant memories of innocent years gone by, whose motorcycle shops were always lively and fast paced with never a dull moment.
