ELIZABETH MASON (ARNOLD)
STAMBROOK

In loving memory of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Mason Arnold Stambrook. Beth passed away in her 90th year in the company of her sons and staff at the West Park Manor on July 19, 2021 in Winnipeg.
She was born March 10, 1932 in Melbourne, Australia and raised three sons across several continents during sabbatical voyages and immigration to Canada. The Canadian winter was always a challenge for Beth, but she supported her sons' skiing, hockey, and speed-skating, and the summer soccer season.
Beth was a nurse (Royal Melbourne Hospital, special post-war burn-unit training in England) and retired from that profession as overnight Nursing Supervisor at the Health Sciences Centre. She worked into her mid-70s for the Winnipeg home care system.
She volunteered with Marymound and with Pastoral Prayer at St. Aiden's.
She is greatly loved and missed by three sons, their partners, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Please feel free to donate in her memory to Marymound at www.marymound.com/main/.
For all who provided messages of condolences and support to the family, we gratefully thank you.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I knew Beth in two capacities, as a Nursing colleague in the Home Care Program and as a fellow church member with St. Aidan's Anglican - for me she was a great example, a very knowledgeable nurse who stood up for her staff and the patients under her care - I remember her from out of 139 Tuxedo Ave - she was also a fellow church member and I remember, most Sundays, looking around and there was Beth, always engaged with someone in deep conversation or prayer - she was a member who was also quite involved with the prayer ministry of the parish and pastoral care - she has not been able to attend for a long time but many have benefitted from her ministry - rest in the arms of our Lord, will be praying for Andrew, David and Michael - Janice Jones, People's Warden, St. Aidan's Anglican Church - Posted by: Laird and Janice Jones (Nursing colleague and fellow parishioner) on: Jul 27, 2021

  • Both Janet and I want to let you know, Andrew, that we are thinking of you. Lots of memories from the home care days. Your mom was special in many ways. - Posted by: Tom Harrison (Knew both Beth and Andrew through working with home care) on: Jul 26, 2021

  • Beth was part of Local 220 for the MGEU. She was dedicated to the labour movement and was an asset to our Local. She always kept us on our toes and insured her membership was well represented. Rest In Peace Beth, we know you will be missed. - Posted by: Robbin Watson (Co-worker) on: Jul 24, 2021

  • My deepest condolences to the family. Beth was my Supervisor at HSC for my first nursing job after graduating in 1975. I then worked with her in the Hone Care Program in later years. And then, God bless her, she befriended my mother at Assisted living, and they took their meals at the same table. It was so nice for my mother to have a caring friendship with Beth during my mother’s short stay there before her passing. I never forgot how kind and caring Beth was to me and to my mother. Again I am so sorry for your loss. Deb Chochinov - Posted by: Deb Chochinov (Colleague and friend ) on: Jul 23, 2021
