WILLIAM FRIESEN
January 5, 1966
- July 15, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Friesen on July 15, 2021, after having fought a long and gallant battle with cancer.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Justin, sister Wendy Horbacio, and nephews, Braedon and Riley Horbacio. Billy was predeceased by our dear parents, Len and Wilma Friesen.
Growing up, Billy pursued many interests. He was an artist with a natural talent for woodworking. He enjoyed many father-son fly-in fishing trips and always looked forward to family road trips. Playing hockey was another of his passions, as was being a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. As he got older, dirt bikes and motorcycles became a shared interest of ours, and we spent many summers at the lake riding together.
The highlight of Billy's life was the day his son Justin was born. Billy was so proud of that little baby boy and he continued to be a loving and loyal father throughout their short 17 years together. Last summer Billy experienced a brief reprieve from pain, and with his voice and Justin's hands, they worked side by side on a home reno project, creating lasting memories.
Billy was known for his generous heart. He had an innate ability to recognize when someone was in need, and he would quietly reach out to help. He once gifted his own beloved guitar to a busker whose guitar had been stolen. This kind spirit was the core of my brother.
We extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Green and Nurse Alisha at CancerCare for their compassionate care and guidance and to Riverview staff for their gentle, respectful care of Billy.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Billy's memory.
A private service was held on July 22, 2021. For those wishing to sign the online guest book and view his photo-biography, please visit www.glenlawn.ca
