Don passed away at 97 after a short stay at the hospital. He had a long, healthy and happy life.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley, his daughters from his first marriage to Sonia: Sandie, Nancy and Marnie, and Shirley's children from her first marriage to Paul Ward: Ryan, Lizanne, Darienne, Erin and their partners, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Fort Garry before heading west to BC. He was born to parents, William and Nellie. His younger brother Jerry died in 2020, survived by Carol, Pat and Tom. Don joined the R.A.F. at age 17 to serve in the Second World War. It was an experience he did not speak of until later in his life though it had a profound effect on him. We are grateful for his service. Don had many successful jobs in sales over his career from selling Lifesavers candy to pharmaceuticals. He was a respected businessman. He had lifelong love of golf and developed many friendships with golfers in Kelowna and Vancouver. Don was a positive man with a great sense of humour, and he was very proud of his large, extended family.
There will be no service at his request.
And as he always said at the end of a conversation: Keep Smiling.
