SALVATORE PELLETTIERI
December 8, 1956 - July 16, 2021
Salvatore is predeceased by his parents, Donato and Antonia Pellettieri; his brother-in-law Giovanni Amico; grandfather Salvatore Pellettieri; grandmother Maria Giuseppa Paterno; grandfather Vito Amico and grandmother Carmela Valluzzi; and many other in-laws and family from Canada and Italy.
Left to remember Salvatore's life are his children, Donato Salvatore Pellettieri, Katherine (Zachary) Hamel and granddaughter Hazel; siblings, Josie (Mario) Raimondi, Carmela Amico; and nephews and nieces, Luciano (Kristin), Angelo and Vito-Carlo Amico; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Salvatore was born on December 8, 1956 in Castelmezzano, Italy. In 1962, with his parents and siblings, he left Italy and immigrated to Switzerland. In 1967 Salvatore and his family came to Winnipeg to join family and to have a chance at a better future in Canada.
Salvatore always greeted family and friends with a warm smile and his magnetic character. He enjoyed the company of others and sharing stories. Salvatore was always industrious and hard-working; he always found a way to be productive, contribute, and make his way. In his youth, Sal enjoyed sports and competed in gymnastics; winning many provincial awards and medals. In his 20s and 30s he moved around Western Canada searching for and creating opportunities. He was married for five years and enjoyed the happiness of having his two children; doing the best he could despite of his own challenges.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to immediate and extended families and friends for their continuous love, kindness, and support. The family also extends their appreciation and gratitude to Winnipeg Police services for their help, kindness, and compassion.
Due to current COVID restrictions, a private funeral will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, with the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. to be presided by Rev. Father Sam Argenziano. Live web stream will be available at .

I was drawn to buy a copy of the paper the day after the tragic event. I was so surprised to see the front story was about a long ago friend that I had classes with back in the day at Daniel Mac, and also worked out with in the gym as we practiced out gymnastics routines and skills. Salvatore had the best smile and was always kind to me. I remember everyone called him the "Human Spring" because of the height he could get on his moves out of his powerful legs that left everyone amazed. One could only be in awe. It is often surprising that life can go on, we can lose touch with those we rubbed shoulders with daily, and then something like this draws us back to the good times and great memories. We all deserve to live out our life and I pray that your family can take comfort in knowing that Salvatore was admired, respected, and fondly remembered by many even though it was likely outside of his ability to know. Every time I saw him, he was gentle, kind and always had something good to say. Sal, you are at peace now. We will miss you. I was shocked & saddened to hear about Sal’s passing. We have been meeting once a year usually in August the past 6 years, with the old gang (John, Sig, myself & recently Claudio), reminiscing about the past. We are all a little older, balder, but Sal was always the shortest & toughest! I am reminded of all the great times growing up together, hanging out together, sports etc. I commended Sal for looking after both his parents in their retirement years! I will miss his friendship, laughter and great smile. God Bless Tony Perrella - Posted by: Tony Perrella (Childhood friend, team mate & longtime school friend ) on: Jul 27, 2021
