ROBERT (BOB) EDWARD HICKS
February 27, 1940 July 10, 2021
Bob will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Linda; children, Robert R. (Julie), Carrie-Lynn, Troy, Tamara (Anthony); seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Bob was predeceased by his mom Mary (Queenie), his father Robert, and his sister Marilyn (Dolly).
Bob was self-employed and owned his own business for 46 years until retirement in 2012. While in business he was deeply involved with both the local and national organizations as president. He loved to cook and because of this he loved to grocery shop. His favourite expression "I'm fine" even when he wasn't. He will be deeply missed by us all.
A private family service will take place later this year.
The family would like to thank Dr. W. Vandenberg, the amazing staff at Kelowna Hospice House and all our friends that have reached out to show their support.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations in Robert's name may be made to the Interior Health Regional Renal Program, 2268 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
Lynda and Family, My condolences go out to you and your family. It’s a real shock to fined out of Bobs passing. I will always remember the boating with you and Bob in Lake of the woods. We never went hungry with Bob around. Also showing me how wonderful Naples, Florida was. I cherish those times. Again Lynda you are in my prayers. Love Pat. May we all meat again some day. - Posted by: Pat Sherring Maguire (Boating Freind’s ) on: Aug 29, 2021
If you owned a Ladies Wear business on the prairies, you would definitely have done your buying with Robert Hicks Agency. Over the years, Bob had secured wonderful lines from mostly Canadian manufacturers that were proven success stories at retail. His magnetic personality and proven track record was his ticket in both securing great selling lines, and then placing them in the right stores, ensuring both his and his customers’ success. He opened a Showroom in Vancouver as his territory expanded to cover all of Western Canada up to and including the Lakehead. He covered the territory thoroughly, being involved in all of the Fashion Show Markets across Western Canada and when lines came out in between these markets, he set up Show Rooms in hotels, displaying his latest samples, where retailers would drive many miles to do their buying from Robert Hicks Agency. They worked long hours during these road trips, and drove many miles to ensure their customers could see and buy their lines. He was President of CAWS (Canadian Association of Wholesale Salesmen) both locally and Nationally, which involved even more travel and many hours dedicated to benefit his fellow “travelers” in the ladies wear industry. I first met Bob when I was in the Agency business, often crossing paths on our road trips. Both Bob & his son Robbie were well known for bringing coolers of food to do their own cooking. These guys were absolute chefs! Meanwhile Linda would be setting up their appointments, and handling the paperwork of their busy agency. When my husband Kit & I moved to Kelowna, and opened Bobbie’s Passport to Fashion, Robert Hicks Agency called on us to buy their lines, and through that we became very good friends for over twenty five years with Bob & Linda. They invited us to stay with them in their beautiful condo in Naples, Florida and they also stayed with us when they came to Kelowna. Their dog Darby became “our pet” at the Riley B&B when they would travel to other cities. It was a friendship made in heaven, which we will always treasure, and are thankful Linda lives in Kelowna to continue our special friendship. While the ladies wear industry has changed dramatically over recent years, the success of Robert Hicks Agency continues as his Son Robbie & wife Julie continue to cover Western Canada from their Vancouver office with the same professionalism, drive and dedication. Our condolences to all of your family Linda. R.I.P. dear Bob. Bobbie & Kit Riley Kelowna - Posted by: Bobbie & Kit Riley (Friends) on: Aug 02, 2021
