Else was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Marie Pedersen, her brother Verner Pedersen, and brother-in-law Alfred Reitz all of Denmark.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bent, of 61 years, her daughters, Lene (Glenn, Braden and Miranda), Lisbeth (Don, Kyle (Kelly), Danielle (Greg) Kayden, Braxton, Greyson and Vanessa (Bel). Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Tove Reitz and her family, Knud and Jytte Pedersen all of Denmark.
Else was born on February 28, 1935 to Karl and Marie Pedersen in Gelsted, Denmark. Her early years were spent on the family farm in Honnerup Mark with parents, brother and sister.
She was fortunate to have been able to continue her education and became a children's nurse of which she was very proud of.
In 1959 she met her future husband Bent and in 1960 they married. Her life then took a new direction as they immigrated to Canada that same year sailing from Copenhagen to Halifax and then taking the train from Halifax all the way to Winnipeg.
The early years were not always easy but they were met head on with a can do attitude. In Canada she was unable to put her nursing degree to use but was proud to have become a nurse's aide. She worked for many years at the Fred Douglas Lodge in that capacity before leaving due to health issues.
Else loved to crochet and needle point and knit and leaves behind many pieces for us to enjoy.
Mom loved to travel and her and dad took many road trips through Canada and the US, along with trips back home to Denmark. When she was unable to travel in the later years she loved to go the casino and have fun.
There are no words that can describe how much we will miss her.
Due to Covid restrictions a private family service has already taken place.
Our family would like to extend our appreciation to the Dialysis Unit 6th floor Health Sciences Centre for the many years Mom was their patient.
We would all like to thank all of the drivers at Handi Transit who got her safely to and from her dialysis appointments.
Thank you also to Dr. Alvares for his compassion in the last year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba, 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1C4.
