WALTER STEWART
1936 - 2021

After a lengthy illness, on July 20, 2021, at Vista Park Lodge, Wally passed away peacefully, with his family by his side.
Wally is survived by his sister Chrissie Watson, daughter Tina (Mike Ayotte), son Jordie (Paula), granddaughters, Holly Hrycyna (Cam), Blaire and Shayla, and great-granddaughters, Ruby and Violet.
Wally was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Shirley, parents, Samuel and Mary, and his brother Alistair.
Dad was born in Carluke, Scotland March 16, 1936. He was a goaltender for the Carluke Rangers soccer team and served two years in the National Service and was part of the Queens Guard.
In 1962, he immigrated to Canada to work in the steel industry and got the added bonus of meeting Mom at the company he was hired by. Dad enjoyed what he did and the people he worked with. He ended his career after many years with Abesco Ltd.
Dad had a great sense of humour, enjoyed reading, cycling, pasta, scotch, spending time with his granddaughters and gave the best hugs.
We would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge, special buddy Shirley, for the excellent care he received over the last five years.
No funeral service will be held but Wally would be right chuffed if you had a wee dram in his memory.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 in Dad's memory.

Miss you Dad/Papa

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Hi Tina - I just wanted to express my sympathies to you and your whole family on the passing of your father. You always spoke of him with such love, and the last year was so hard on you because of the pandemic. The last time I saw you in March you still hadn’t been able to get in to see him! I’m hoping you did finally get to see him in person, with no windows between you, and give him a lot of hugs before he passed. Andrea - Posted by: A Towers (Co-worker) on: Aug 16, 2021
