LINDA JEAN FISCHER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Fischer. Linda passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 28, 2021.
She is survived by her loving brother, Tom (Mary Lynne), sister Joanie (Al), and nephews, Gus (Lauren, Mark and Claire), and Gregory. Linda will be sorely missed by her lifelong best friend, Undine, and her dear cousin Doreen Coverdale.
Linda lived and taught in many locations throughout Canada, from BC to Quebec during her teaching career. We were thrilled when Linda moved from Drummondville, Quebec to Winnipeg four years ago to be closer to her family. She had a unique and caring relationship with Tom, with whom she had countless philosophical discussions, and shared a most wonderful sense of humour.
Linda will be missed so very much, and her memories will be a blessing.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I went to Principal Sparling School in the West End with Linda; and we became close friends and stayed friends into junior high at Sargent Park School and Daniel McIntyre high school. We spent many days either at my house or her place after school. Her mother was an long time invalid and so a lot of the household and family care fell onto Linda's young shoulders. Linda was one of the funniest and wittiest people I have met in my life. She was brilliant and charming - and I loved her very much as a friend. But there was great sadness in her life as well. Her inner strength saw her through many long and difficult times. Sadly for me, Linda and I lost touch when I went to the U of Manitoba and she went to U of Winnipeg. After graduation, I got married and our lives went in different directions. I did not know Linda had returned to Winnipeg four years ago. I truly wish I had known - as I would have tried to get in touch with her. Childhood friendships bloom and wane - and I am deeply sorry that I didn't see her in her final years. I was shocked and very sad when I saw her obit. Linda's friendship will always be a memory I cherish. - Posted by: Margaret Buffie (Friend) on: Aug 19, 2021
