WILLIAM (BILL) KANDIA
1920 – 2021

Bill passed peacefully on July 26, 2021, at the Deer Lodge Centre.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Olive; his parents, Alexander and Ksenia; sister Lena and son-in-law Vern Giesbrecht.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Gary) Tully and Lorraine Giesbrecht; his grandsons, Lee (Kari) Tully and Brandon Giesbrecht; great-granddaughter Isabell Tully; nephew John (Emily) Kandia and their daughters, Cindy and Pat.
Dad was born in Eastern Europe. His family immigrated to Canada in 1929 settling at Vivian, Manitoba. His father died shortly after their arrival leaving Dad and his mom to continue on their farm. Dad developed a strong work ethic and excelled academically at school.
He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in 1939 and became a wireless gunnery instructor. It was during this time he met his future wife Olive Newton. Dad and Mom shared a wonderful life together. They enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their cottage at Grand Beach. They travelled across Canada, loved to visit Britain, Europe and spend winter holidays in Victoria and Hawaii.
Dad was a career Chartered Accountant. He was employed as an auditor with Revenue Canada.
He was a long time member of the Northern Light Masonic Lodge, Shriner Khartum Temple (Director's Staff) and St. Chad's Church.
Dad had a green thumb and took pride in his garden and flower beds. Everything in his world centered on neatness, organization and respect for others. Over the years he enjoyed the family dogs Trixie, Candy and Penny.
Respecting Dad's wishes there will be no formal funeral service.
The family thanks the staff at Deer Lodge Centre Tower 4 South for their loving, compassionate care. Special thanks to Andrea, Joanne, Alex, Robyn, Pat and chaplains Jonathan and Jude. A 'very' special appreciation to Merna Bowes who brightened his days with her energetic enthusiasm and love.
If friends desire a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or The Shriner's Children's Hospital, c/o Khartum Temple, 1155 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9 or reach out to someone in need.
