KENNETH MALCOLM MCPHERSON
October 17, 1934 July 22, 2021
Dad grew up in Winnipeg in West End, playing hockey and hardball with the West End Memorials. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Marianne, spending the next 65 years together, until illness separated them in the last year.
Our Dad spent 33 years with the Winnipeg Police Department and after retirement, he worked for King Transportation for several years. He was an avid sports fan, especially Major League Baseball and the Canadian Football League. He was also a fixture at Assiniboine Park, roller blading in the summer and at St. James Civic Centre in the winter, skating. In their early married years, our Mum and Dad were avid bowlers in leagues at both Birchwood Bowl and Northgate Bowl.
Dad always thoroughly enjoyed getting together with friends and neighbours. He also enjoyed vacations, whether it was at Victoria Beach, their seasonal spot at Gimli or trips down to North and South Dakota.
He was also an avid reader of true crimes, history and also enjoyed his war movies, the history channel and English comedies.
Our Dad loved his family and grandchildren, always ready to entertain or tell a story to them. Whether it was family dinners or get togethers around birthdays and holidays, they were always a special time for him.
Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Naomi and Bill, as well as his wife Marianne. He leaves behind three children, Ward (Kelly), Andy (Donna) and Christine (Ross). Also left behind are six grandchildren, Mike (Jen), Trevor (Catherine), Krista (Curtis), Melissa (Jorden), Connor (Jenna) and Brianna (Kevin); as well as seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Ellie, Mia, Parker, Quinton, Eli and Jack.
Our family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Riverview Health Centre, Wing A2. Their outstanding care and compassion in taking care of our Dad was so very much appreciated and helped our family greatly during this difficult time.
Dad, you are now with Mom, the love of your life. We will miss you greatly and will never forget you. Rest in peace.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
My condolences to the McPherson Family. Loved my time with Ken at King Transportation. He had the unique ability to cool me down when all hell was breaking loose on Wilkes Ave. Absolutely a true gentleman and family man. - Posted by: Bill Langdon (Fellow Employee at King Transportation) on: Jul 31, 2021
