  • Heaven gained another angel. A bright star in the sky. Met Melissa, David and her mom many years ago. A bond was created that day. She never failed to stop in and say Hi and share her journey. Always had the best attitude and most beautiful smile. My heart breaks for David and their families. May she rest pain free. - Posted by: Cheryl Waterman (Friend (Swarovski)) on: Aug 08, 2021

  • Melissa, although we only met over the phone three months ago, I truly felt a connection to you. Thank you for your graciousness and your ability to open yourself to my words of inspiration and hope. It was with honour that the heavens chose me to pray for you everyday. I prayed with all my heart and soul using your Hebrew name “Chaya Mindel bat Sura Faiga” in the hope that the heavens would send you a miracle. Your strength and courage is without a doubt something we should all learn from. You lived life with hope until the end. May your beloved husband be blessed with the same strength and courage to get through this sad time. And for your mother, Susan, my heart aches. It was hard for her to be away from you in these last months, but I know there wasn’t a day, an hour or a second that she wasn’t with you in her heart. Susan, you should be comforted among the mourners who are honoring your daughter with their love and appreciation of knowing her. Melissa will be missed and through her memories she will live in the hearts of all who were touched by her. - Posted by: Colette Avital (Toronto friend of Susan ) on: Aug 08, 2021

  • When Melissa found me teary-eyed in the changing room at Studio 26 Hot Yoga, she was relieved to learn that nothing had happened to my dog. “Oh honey, you’ll get over a break up. Men come and go, but dogs are the real heartbreakers.” Sage advice from one dog lover to another. I am deeply saddened to hear of Melissa’s passing. It always shocks me when cancer steals away fierce warriors. She was such a vibrant, strong woman. My deepest condolences to her husband, Dave Thomas, and her family. My heart breaks for you. - Posted by: Candice Ball (Fellow yogini) on: Aug 07, 2021

  • I loved seeing Melissa arrive in a booth I was working. She was always so excited to be working and seemed as genuinely happy to see me as I was to see her. Work is one thing… but I like to think I had the honor of calling both Melissa and Dave my very good friends. I will miss her kindness, humor and beauty. Rest In Peace, Melissa. God Bless you Dave. - Posted by: Carolyn Black (Work colleague ) on: Aug 07, 2021

  • When I was 10 years old I had the joy of calling Melissa my family, she was my first cousin by marriage. Every Shabbat we would see one another and share what was going on in our lives. Melissa was an incredible woman: determined, funny, smart and compassionate!! I am saddened that her time on earth was so short. I am forever grateful that I got to spend time with such a fantastic ball of light. I know that Dave, although I have never met him, was an amazing partner to Melissa. When we would speak she mentioned how grateful she felt to have someone incredibly supportive. I will hold all my memories of our cherished time together in my heart. My deepest condolences out to all other family and friends that miss her greatly. - Posted by: Jenifer-Lyn Terner (Friend and family ) on: Aug 07, 2021

  • I am so saddened to hear of Melissa's passing I had the privilege of knowing her through the Financial Institution that I work at, the courage and strength Melissa had was incredible!! Everytime she would come into bank I could not help but tear up as she would talk about her journey, she was fighting this head on. With all that Melissa had going on through the years she would never forget to drop off boxes of chocolates to the girls at Christmas. You will be deeply missed I will miss seeing you and that beautiful smile. May you rest in peace, no more pain, no more suffering, till we meet again my friend. - Posted by: Isabel Moncado (Friend ) on: Aug 07, 2021

  • I didn’t know Melissa really, we only met a few times. But I DO know what a loving lady she was and how she made David so happy. She developed a relationship with my late uncle Jim (Dave’s Dad) that I’m sure eased his, and David’s moving on. Their love was so apparent and even enviable. • Melissa was always shinning bright! She silently battled this fight for most of her life, but you'd never know it as she had such a positive attitude! Our interest in Jeeps helped us cross each other's paths, our love for MinPins started our friendship. We may have not had many moments shared together in life, but every moment we shared was beautiful! I am honored to have known you! You will forever be in our hearts! My love to your family. - Posted by: Jocelyn Diamond (Friends) on: Aug 06, 2021
