KATHERINE MARY ANNE OROBKO
(SUMKA)
Born: August 30, 1961
Death: July 24, 2021
Mom was born in Winnipeg - the only daughter to Peter and Mary Sumka. She is survived by her three children, Ryan, Adam and Melissa, as well as her seven brothers and many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her niece, Andrea.
Mom spent all of her working years at Safeway, taking care of customers as a cashier, as well as at the Farmer's Market and Sumka Brothers Greenhouse, where her sunny disposition always made an impact on those around her. Mom was EVERYBODY's aunty and a true people person.
We will always remember our special times with our mom, like camping at Black Lake and making Ukrainian easter eggs, perogies and perishky. Mom's borscht was something to savour. Mom loved dancing and travelling, especially to Mexico, which was truly her happy place. Birthdays were always celebrated with Red Lobster and Jeannie's cake.
Mom loved vibrant colours. She had the brightest smile and the happiest laugh. Next time you see a rainbow, think of our mom and take a little time to dance and hold your family close.
A Celebration of Life will be held with family and close friends.

Sending the warmest of regards and condolences. I absolutely love that you mentioned rainbows because she will always and forever be saved in my contacts as Rainbow Katherine. I had the absolute pleasure of knowing her, and doing her nails, for several years. She was truly my hype girl. She pushed my creativity and embraced my desire to try new things. Every person she came across in the spa she made a point of complimenting. Always having something positive to say. I find it very hard knowing I won't ever see her smile or hear her laugh from across my table again. Please know she will be terribly missed ❤️ - Posted by: Kendrah Sysak (Friend and "Nail Girl" ) on: Aug 07, 2021
