RICHARD ALAN WIEBE
Rick is survived by Jenell, his loving wife of 30 years, two daughters, Drew and Peri, and an infamous dog named Tucker.
He is also survived by sisters, Shirley O'Neill (Bill) and Bev Collicutt (Greg), nephews, David Collicutt and Justin Collicutt; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents, John and Mary Wiebe.
Rick grew up in Winnipeg, loved the experience of travelling to a variety of continents and parts of Canada and the US but also was quite content to spend quality time close to home. In his late 20s he met his future wife Jenell. They had an instant, and natural connection that grew into a deep love and source of friendship and companionship, that stood the test of time. His two daughters were a great source of pride, and he would do anything for them.
Rick was self-employed as a Residential Designer, and thoroughly enjoyed the process of meeting people, capturing their vision for the design of any structure, large or small and seeing the final project completed. It was a lifelong passion and he planned on never retiring.
Rick was an avid Winnipeg Jets fan, soccer coach for his daughter's rec league teams and discovered a love for the game of squash. He was driven by curiosity and was naturally inquisitive. He had great compassion for those in need, was committed to involvement in his church and was generous with his support of good causes. Rick didn't mellow with age, instead grew more passionate about social issues, concern for the environment and climate change.
Diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2019, and eventually placed on the lung transplant list, Rick passed away a strong advocate for donating any part of his body to help someone else improve and prolong their life.
In keeping with Rick's wishes, cremation has taken place and due to public health restrictions, a memorial service will be held by invitation only on Sunday, August 8 at Friends Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity https://www.habitat.mb.ca/ or consider registering with signupforlife.ca to record your wishes for organ and tissue donations.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rick when he was dating Jenell, my long ago roommate of the Wardlaw house. Recently, Rick worked with us on a redesign of a small house and during this time, we had the pleasure of re-connecting - our meetings were longer than planned, but we (my husband and I) are grateful for getting to know Rick better on a personal level. Truly, Rick was an inspiration and a blessing to many. God is surely pleased with such a wonderful person. We will truly miss him! Prayers and God's comfort for Jenell and the children! I have had the pleasure of working with Rick in a couple capacities over the years. Most notably on residential design projects where we got to collaborate, challenge each other and, ultimately, produce some of our best work as a team. Rick has moved on but has left his mark on our lives in many ways - he was truly gifted and I am grateful for the creative collaboration and friendship we shared. My heartfelt condolences go out to all who were near and dear to him. - Posted by: Joan Sikorsky (colleague and friend) on: Sep 09, 2021

Rich and I met while working at Palliser Furniture many years back. He and I share the same bizarre sense of humor, which meant that he had my immediate respect. Later he, Jennell and I worked together in a variety of ways. My deepest condolence to the entire family. May God uphold and sustain you. - Posted by: Wilmar Federau (Freind) on: Aug 23, 2021

My heartfelt condolences to Jenell and the girls. I heard about Rick and the progression of the illness this year from Jenelle. He sounded like an awesome human, hubby and dad. I'm very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Helena Tiginagas (co-worker) on: Aug 20, 2021

I first met Rick when I started my very first job at the Palliser Photo Studio way back in 1999. How he put up with me, I'll never know, but I've always loved Rick's calm manner and his genuine smile. Just a few years ago, our paths crossed again and Rick designed my dream home with me, where I now live. He was such a lovely man and I will always be grateful for his kindness, creativity, patience and warmth. I send my deepest condolences to your family. He spoke of his love for his family so often. Rick was a really, really great guy and will be truly missed. Sending my heartfelt thoughts and prayers, Nicole Bent - Posted by: Nicole Bent (Work Colleague) on: Aug 09, 2021
