Oh no, never knew about Phil’s passing until now. Hope it’s not too late to be posting this and hope that the family receives this. Just the other night, I was making up a Pizza for supper, doing up one of Phil’s recipes from the Phil’s Pizza era back when I was living in Winnipeg. Which had me reminiscing about the old days back in Winnipeg. It was a long time since I saw Phil. Back in 2008 was when I last saw him just before I ended up leaving Winnipeg and immigrating to the US. Having looking him up on Google for an email address or phone number, to get back in touch, was when I discovered this obituary. I came to know Phil back when he was working at Night Moves and Mama Mia’s in the early 1990’s. It was later when he had his own restaurant that I ended up working for him. His Brother Joey has also worked with him as well as his Father helping out. Many times I would meet up with Phil at the house to pick him up on the way to work and would be sitting down having a coffee or something light to eat with his Mom and Dad, while waiting for him to get ready and come downstairs. I remember Mrs. Sacco being an amazing cook which I can see where Phil had inherited up a lot of his cooking skills from.. A lot of great memories from back in the past working and hanging out with Phil. My condolences go out to the family. - Posted by: Jamil Ahsan (Friend/co-worker ) on: Feb 20, 2022

We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the family. We met Phil through Joe approximately six years ago. He was always a joy to be around and yes, as many have said, had a heart of gold. He made pizzas for all of us at our annual Grey Cup Party & he was so excited to do this for us. We were also just with him and other close friends for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory on the Sunday prior. I’m still finding it hard to believe he is gone. RIP Pizza Phil. Until we meet again 😘 - Posted by: Jackie & Darren (Friend ) on: Aug 17, 2021

I cannot express the heartfelt pain of Phil's loss and like all the comments expressed are all factual. Phil was all ❤ and always there to help in every way but especially when you needed an ear to listen. He was loved so much at Paradise and was like a brother to me and son to my mom and dad Gerardina & Gerardo. Phil I saved your last message just so I can hear your voice every morning. Phil and I grew up together on Mulvey. So many good memories were had there! a couple of decades later we re-united by accident ...it was a great accident meeting again! We were older but it seemed comfortable-like we were still kids. I am very thankful that we banged into each other on Corydon, was such an honor and pleasure to spend time with you. My deepest condolences to all who loved you. May you rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: leah (family friend) on: Aug 14, 2021

We are all so heartbroken over the passing of Phil. Having grown up on the same street [Mulvey Ave}in the 70"s and 80's together, Phil was like another brother. We attended elementary and high school together. I will forever remember the countless times i helped him deliver his fliers and newspapers and he always insisted on paying me by taking me to Salisbury House,Garwood Grill,Colleseo etc. The Man had a Heart of Gold. If he had a dollar in his pocket he would spend it on you before himself. He was to good which many times was his downfall. Loved the guy and he will be forever missed and never forgotten. Gone much to soon. Love You Phil......Rest In Peace Lucio Vena - Posted by: Lucio Vena (Childhood Friend) on: Aug 13, 2021
