KENNETH ANDY LAXDAL
Born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1952, Ken was the son of Billie and Ike Laxdal. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, son David (Kristen), daughter Jillian (Danny), and cherished grandchildren, Lily, Lennon, Jace and Thomas, brothers, Frank (Debby), Bob (Sharon) and sister Tammy, brother-in-law Jim Redston (Suzanne), as well as niece Marianne, nephews, Philip, Derek and Darryl.
Ken was a dedicated employee of the City of Winnipeg, reaching 35 years of service, prior to his retirement in 2003. After retirement, he worked part-time for Piston Ring and really enjoyed the work and the friendship of the staff and drivers.
He was an intense lover of many sports, watching and coaching hockey, playing Fastball and Softball on teams representing Manitoba in 1980, 1981 and 1984, a passion for golf and hosting the Knothead Open golf tournament for over two decades.
Ken also had a passion for cars - racing at Bison Dragways, restoring his 1929 Ford Model A, and proudly showcasing it on Sunday cruise nights. His favourite role in life was as a proud grandfather to the four grandchildren. His special place to be with family and friends was at the Gimli cottage. He enjoyed all the construction phases and appreciated the help from family and friends.
We would like to especially thank Dr. Rowland Hayward, St. Boniface Hospital, CIVP, MHNP, home care, and Bob and Sharon for their continued support over the past year.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 26, 2021. Due to Covid rules and restrictions, please email Laxdal2021@gmail.com regarding attendance.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to KidSport Canada.
