NETTIE DUECK

Nettie Dueck, 84, of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away on August 15, 2021.
She was born to parents, Henry and Margaret Hiebert on March 22, 1937, in Hanover Municipality, Manitoba.
Nettie started dating Walter in 1955. They were married at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, on August 8, 1958, in Steinbach, Manitoba. Together they raised four children: Randy, Felicia, Carla and Cindy.
Mom struggled mightily and valiantly with mental illness through much of her life. We know her as a courageous prayer warrior who daily held not only the family but a vast list of prayer recipients in her prayers. She found great comfort and peace in waking early and spending hours in Bible reading and prayer. We all knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Mom prayed for us and loved us dearly.
Nettie is survived by her husband Walter; children, Randy (Bev), Felicia (Andrzej), Carla (Rod), Cindy (Bill); grandchildren, Brynlee, Zem, Ali, Ryan, Jessie, Colin, Maria, Samantha and Matthew; and six great-grandchildren, Hendrix, Simeon, Teslyn, Harlow, Rio and Remi. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Loren.
The family would especially like to thank Ruth, Mom's long-time nurse at Donwood Manor. She was an angel to our Mom and to us. A big thank you also to her regular care team at Donwood. Dr Omelan, Mom's doctor, provided expert and compassionate mental health care along Mom's journey. Dr Campbell and Dr Prasad, as well as the exceptional nursing team at the St. Boniface Hospital Pre-Op Unit, advocated for and watched over Mom so wonderfully.
In Mom's last week, Judy Friesen went above and beyond to ensure Mom got the best care possible. Thank You hardly expresses how much this meant to us. The Palliative Care staff of 8A at St. Boniface Hospital took great care of Mom and the family in her last days.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. Please note that the on-site invitation is limited to Nettie and Walter's siblings and spouses and to Nettie and Walter's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The service will follow current provincial COVID restrictions and is available to be watched online at www.friendsfs.ca. Pastor Dan Cormie will officiate the service.
Should you care to donate in Nettie's name please consider Inner City Youth Alive (ICYA) or Union Gospel Mission.
