JESSICA SCHETTLER
March 28, 1986 – July 28, 2021
Left to grieve her loss are her parents, Wendy and Mike Schettler, her sister Sarah Schettler, her brother Joshua (Emma) Schettler, her nieces, Sophie and Olive Schettler, her grandparents, Pat DeCuypere Horst and Glen Horst and Penny Smith, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We trust that Jess is being held in the warm embrace of her grandparents that passed before her – Dave Waters and Diane and Gord Schettler.
Jess was many things: She was a lifelong learner. She loved reading and writing. She was quirky. She hated cooking. She was up for adventure. She loved music and playing her guitar and ukulele. She loved and found great joy in her nieces and the children she worked with. She was accepting of all, and had the ability to quickly see past the noise to the essence of a person. Mostly, and above all else, Jessica was kind and she was deeply loved.
The family would like to thank all who reached out to Jessica during her illness, especially her good friends, Berkeley and Dan, and her Ecole Varennes "family", who offered her so much love and support during her illness. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at 5th Floor Women's Hospital for the kind and compassionate care Jessica received.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private memorial service will be held Friday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. It will be livestreamed through Neil Bardal Funeral Centre and can be found at Jessica's obituary page at www.neilbardalinc.com. The service can be viewed through the "Watch Webcast" tab.

My favourite memory of Jess was her so excitedly showing me the picture of her beautiful blue suit that she wore on her special day in July 2019. I am sure the Schettler's have so much anger and grief that my prayer is they are able to let that anger go and embrace everyone who deeply loved Jessica.
