MAURICE VINCENT

Maurice Joseph Vincent, 73, passed away on August 10, 2021, in Winnipeg.
Son of Alphonse and Eugénie Vincent (née Chevrefils), of St. Georges, Maurice was born on February 29, 1948. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his siblings, Albert, Hector, Agnès, Dorothée, Noël Alcide, and Marcel, brother-in-law, Roger Beaudette, and his infant son Maurice Jr.
Maurice was a man who never wore shorts, who often hummed a tune around the house, who read and re-read every Louis L'Amour book ever written, and who had a Winter's Autobody t-shirt suitable for any and every occasion.
A carpenter by trade, Maurice took great pride in everything he did. This value remained constant whether his job was that of a farmer, a contractor, a drywaller, or as caretaker of the block. He carried that pride into his community, and gave his time to his parish council, the St. Georges Water Co-op, and the Pineview Saintes and Eastman Flames ringette clubs.
These past few years, Maurice encountered serious health issues. He met each new challenge in his typically quiet and level-headed way. He was so well cared for by Brenda and Tyson and Tamara that he did not often lose the light in his eyes, or his ability to crack an inappropriate joke.
Maurice remained his family's cornerstone until the end and his loss is most deeply felt by his devoted wife of 52 years, Brenda, his children, Tyson (Tamara), Chantal, and Chad (Rachelle), his 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as brothers, Jean-Marie (Ginette) and Yves (Johanne), sister Hélène Beaudette, brother-in-law Eddie Deurbrouck, and an overflowing cup of beloved nieces and nephews.
A private funeral and celebration of the eucharist will take place at 11:00 a.m. on September 3, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Church in Winnipeg, with a livestream for anyone wishing to attend virtually. Honorary pallbearers: Andrei Baggs, Daniel Baggs, Danny Beaudette, Marc Beaudette, Martin Vincent, Joël Majeau, and Naveen Sharma.
Using the tools of his trade, Maurice built hotels, schools, furniture, custom homes and more, but his most noted build was the home he offered his family and friends. His tools of understanding, love, humour and compassion will be those that are most remembered. Buildings can be built and can fall into ruin. What Maurice made for us all will surely stand the test of time. Thank you for being our Builder.
