DEBRA MELBALYN FLETCHER
Debbie was born on April 19, 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Gwen and Bert Fletcher. Debra grew up in Winnipeg but loved spending her summers in Dauphin, Manitoba with her grandparents, Melba and Ted Scrase. Debbie attended school in Winnipeg graduating from Vincent Massey High School. As a student she worked part-time at the Manitoba Telephone System and went on to enjoy a 20-year career with them. When they privatized she was laid off. At this point Debbie decided to move to BC to be closer to her parents as her dad was not well. She found employment at a gift shop on Salt Spring Island and at Home Hardware. Debbie's friendliness made her an ideal sales person and when she moved to Sidney she was again employed at Home Hardware. Deb was active in her church fundraising and contributing her talents anyway she could. She loved animals and volunteered with a dog rescue.
Debbie is survived by her mother Gwen, her cousins and extended family.
Memorial donation to a charity of choice
Debbie's funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Evangelist, 980 Falmouth Road, Victoria, BC. Deb will be interred beside her father Bert in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
