DEIRDRE (DEE) VALERIE CYR
Born: December 13, 1949
Died: August 10, 2021
She leaves behind many family recipes and two confused sons (Randy and Damien) with no clue as to how much a 'dollop' or a 'smidge' is. Also left behind are four wonderful grandchildren (James, Noah, Abi, and Ben), all of whom are wondering who will make their birthday party dreams come true. Her Rainbow Stage/game night/girls-night-out group of what she considered honorary daughters (nieces, Debbie and Jessica, granddaughter Abi) will party just a little less hard now.
Reliving memories was a big part of who Dee was, as was staying in touch with family. Whether reminiscing about little brother Doug and her big sister Sharon, or chatting about current events with sister-in-law Sharon, Dee was always excited to tell stories.
We would be pleased if you would join us for a celebration of Dee's life at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1755 Portage Ave., August 28, 2021 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Dee was a longtime friend of more than 60 years who I did not see often but would pick up the conversation as if we had seen each other yesterday. She remembered a lot of our school days, and was one of the friends who went through Beatlemania with me. We spent many a Saturday hanging out downtown at our favourite music store and sharing a plate of Salisbury fries. She always had a great smile and hug for my sister Ruth and myself and was interested in our family and shared her family stories. I shall truly miss her. - Posted by: Ina (Kuchciak ) on: Aug 22, 2021

Was saddened to read of Dee’s passing. My sincere condolences to all her family. We grew up together on Craig St. When I was getting ready to come to my cottage for the summer, I was going through some books that my grandkids might be interested in. One of them was titled Five Little Peppers and How They Grew. It was given to me on my birthday, from Dee, in 1954. I remember her and her family well. If I happened to run into her over the years, she was always happy to share things about her kids......always with humour and a smile. Her passing takes a little bit of me and my memories of growing up. I’m sure she will be missed but leaves behind many memories and stories. They will always be with you to treasure. - Posted by: Janice Johnson (McCormick) (Childhood friend) on: Aug 21, 2021

I have known Dee since 1974, when I worked with her at National Trust. She was a girl with a very large heart and a great sense of humour. I was the "kid", who really knew nothing about anything. Dee was a real domestic and I was just the opposite. Both Dee and I had a child about 1 month apart in August of 1976. We used to tease the kids that they were going to be married when they were 25. Hard to believe, but that did not happen. Even though life took us in different directions, we managed a phone relationship. I will miss you my friend. Be happy my Dee and hi to Bob. - Posted by: Lesley Schneider (Dear friend) on: Aug 21, 2021
