Condolences & Memories (7 entries)
Was one of the best teachers I had at RRC. Made learning always a good time, and always kept us awake with his stories even when classes were online. Truly a great guy! Condolences to his whole family, he will be truly missed! - Posted by: Daniel Sousa (Student) on: Aug 28, 2021
My sincere condolences to the Rooney family. John's sense of humour and his kindness made for many happy memories of when I knew him in the early 90s. It was a fun time with lots of good stories to come from then. I know he will be deeply missed by all, my sympathies to his family. - Posted by: Corinne Napper (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2021
Rooney was one of the best instructors at RRC I had throughout my apprenticeship. Always willing to go the extra mile to help a student. Full of energy, and made learning fun. - Posted by: Brett (Student) on: Aug 25, 2021
My deepest condolences to Dermot's family & friends. I knew Dermot in my early 20s, through his cousins Maeve & Carol Savage, and remember him as always happy, carefree and smiling. Amazing to read how Dermot touched so many lives in many different ways over the past 56 years. Gone too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with Dermot's mom, Clem, his 2 daughters and his extended family and friends. With deepest sympathy, Judy Maidment - Posted by: Judy Schellenberg Maidment (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2021
Our deepest condolences to the Rooney family. We were neighbours across the back lane with the Rooney's for years and our parents were friends over the years, lots of memories. Take care and cherish all the beautiful memories of Dermot "John", he was a kind man and will be deeply missed. xoxo The Buchanan family - Posted by: Dianne Lavich (nee Buchanan) (Old neighbour and friends of the family) on: Aug 24, 2021
Brother John Rooney was always a joy to be with. As all know, he was always full of life and one of the best comics I know. He could always get the crowds going with his great jokes with accents and the positive way he carried himself. We were Caddy Lake friends and good times were guaranteed to happen if John was around. John played a key role the whole time he was employed in the electrical trade, as an apprentice to a foreman for McCaine Electric, then to RRCC as an instructor of electrical, where he taught and mentored hundreds of electrical apprentices. John was respected by all people that he spent time with. Our electrical trade in Manitoba has suffered a great loss. On behalf of IBEW Local 2085 we would like to extend our condolences to John's family, along with the many friends John has. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P John, Sincerely, Brother Dave McPhail, IBEW 2085 President /ABM - Posted by: Dave McPhail (friend) on: Aug 24, 2021
One of the nicest guys I ever did electrical work with. Many laughs. We'll miss you, Johnny. - Posted by: Charlie P. (Friend/former co-worker) on: Aug 24, 2021
