ANDREW LAPKOWSKI
He is survived by his wife Nina, his brother Lech and nephew Maciej, his son Christopher, daughter-in-law Lorraine, and grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Andrew was born in Poland in 1943, studied and graduated with a Master of Engineering from Gdansk University of Technology (Politechnika Gdanska) and married Nina in 1967 who he met and studied with at the university. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer in Gdansk until 1980 when he took a leap of faith and decided to leave Poland for better life in Canada together with Nina and their son Christopher. He continued his Engineering career in Winnipeg, Manitoba working for different companies as well as opening his own consulting firm, Technoproject, before slowly transitioning towards retirement around 65 years of age. Throughout as well as after his career, Andrew was completely the definition of a true Engineer: clever, innovative and always building and constructing.
In his personal life, Andrew was a caring and loyal husband to his wife Nina and a guiding role model father to his son Christopher. Andrew and Nina spent countless hours together talking to each other never lacking subjects to discuss with each other and just spending quality time together. They matched perfectly. To his son, Andrew was a wonderful parent and teacher of life always caring, teaching and guiding. To Lech, Andrew was an older brother like no other, always watching over his wellbeing and after establishing his own new life in Canada, helping Lech make the move as well.
Andrew has touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all of us and remembered always.
A memorial service will be held on Monday August 30 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.

It was a pleasure to work along side Andrew at DGH Engineering Ltd. Andrew was a very skilled mechanical engineer and was a great mentor to our young engineers. He was also a dear friend whom Dennis and I have enjoyed spending time with at our cabin each fall. We truly loved the relaxing time spent with Andrew and Nina and hearing their amazing stories of their past. Andrew is also remembered for his very appreciated talent for choosing music that was so pleasant to the ear! My sincere condolences to Nina and family. - Posted by: Betty-lynn Hodgkinson (Friend and Fellow Worker) on: Aug 26, 2021
