JEANNETTE MARIE ANTOINETTE CARRIERE
(née CHOUINARD)
June 14, 1925 – August 20, 2021

Peacefully, with family by her side, our mother, grandmother (mémère) and great-grandmother passed away on August 20, 2021 at the Concordia Hospital. She was 96 years of age.
While taking her last breaths, Mom was receiving the last rites of passage as she began her journey to the other side, where her beloved son Donald would be welcoming her with open arms.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter Michelle, devoted son-in-law Denis Gervais, her grandchildren Daniel (Robyn) and children Simon and Marah, Jean-Guy (Tracy) and children Easton and Colton, Julie (John) and children Luke and Max, Devon Carriere (João), Paul Carriere (Shannon) and children Dreydon and Brylan, daughter-in-law Debbie (Dennis Gross) and special niece Lorraine Thomson (Terry).
She was predeceased by her son Don, daughter-in-law Cathy Hébert, her brother Larry Chouinard, her sister Marguerite Laplume, and her parents, Alphée and Claire Chouinard.
Mom worked at various jobs during her life, where she made many loyal friends along the way. During her early retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the St. Boniface Hospital, Robertson College, and the MS Society. In her leisure time, she enjoyed travelling, golfing, playing cards, and winning at Scrabble (with a little help from her dictionary). She also never missed an episode of The Young and the Restless. She practiced yoga every day until her limited mobility would no longer allow it. She was an avid reader and loved to spend her afternoons enjoying books in her overstuffed armchair. When her eyes became too weak to read, she loved to listen to music, especially classical, country, and gospel.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Heritage House, where Mom spent the last six years of her life.
A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Monday September 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.

"You have walked the earth for miles and miles and have finally made it home."
Rest in peace.
