JUSTINA (TEENIE) ANDRUSIAK

Justina's beautiful soul was set free on August 29, 2021. A special gift, just in time for her 96th birthday on August 30th.
Cherished Mom of Pauline and Baba of Emily Griffith. She stayed with us as long as she possibly could, leaving us with wonderful memories and a legacy of a long life, well-lived.
She is reunited with her beloved husband, Nick; her parents, John and Maria Storozuk; her parents-in-law, Peter and Nellie Andrusiak; her infant twin sister, and two infant daughters. In her long life, she said goodbye to many extended family members and dear friends. She is rejoicing in being with all those who she said goodbye to in the past.
Justina lived in Transcona since 1928. She marvelled at the changes that happened over her lifetime. She loved her family, God, her church, her faith and Villa communities, and her friends. She devoted her life to caring for others, especially her family, St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish and her seniors' clubs.
Many people enjoyed Justina's gifts and talents…especially her amazing cooking, baking, pickling, and her beautiful knitting and sewing. She would delight in welcoming people into her home to prepare a meal. She believed in simple joys she could give to others. Teenie and Nick loved to travel, experiencing Canada from coast to coast and much of the United States, including Alaska.
Thank you to Dr. Caners for your excellent care over the decades. Justina trusted you completely and you never let her down. To Dr. Moltzan and the St. Boniface Cancer Care team and volunteers - your respect and compassion for Justina will never be forgotten. To the Deer Lodge Rehab Program - you worked with Justina to gain strength and return to her home at the Villa; she was so happy. To her home care team - for giving her additional time to live at the Villa even when COVID made your work difficult. She was so grateful.
For the past year, Justina lived at Holy Family Home. So many wonderful people took such great care of her; hands-on caregivers, spiritual care, recreation, cleaners, social work, nutrition, physio, reception, security and those who ensured her physical environment, inside and outdoors, was comfortable and pleasing. Each time you connected with Justina, she truly appreciated it. You gave her life quality and dignity. Heartfelt thanks to our family and friends who have supported us and comforted us over the years. You are a blessing.
Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 400 Day Street, Transcona at 10:00 a.m. In keeping with COVID-19 Health Orders, face masks and social distancing will be required. Interment will follow at Transcona Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, a donation in Justina's memory can be made to St. Michael's Parish, Holy Family Home - c/o LUBOV Foundation or your favourite charity.

  • Aunty Teenie will be greatly missed by me and Liz. Our regular telephone conversations with her gave us such a sense of hope. She was always so enthusiastic and happy even in the last call about 20 days before she left Earth. She and Uncle Nick were a big influence in my life, the kindness they always extended towards me and the hospitality they extended to me on so many occasions has been deeply appreciated. One could rely on them to be in your corner no matter what the situation. May she now rest in Peace. - Posted by: Earl Andrusiak (Nephew) on: Sep 06, 2021

  • I have many fond memories of Auntie Teenie, she was always a gentle and kind soul. Family gatherings as kids, always with the lavish meals, often in the back yard of her home. Family was so very important. I hear mom speak of her and how good of friends they were since very young girls. She leaves behind happy memories for so many, and of course, her lovely daughter, my cousin Pauline and cherished granddaughter Emily to carry on her legacy. I hope you two are at peace with the passing of this lovely lady who was such a vital and huge part of your lives, knowing she had a long, well-lived life. Love, Val. - Posted by: Valerie Andrusiak (niece) on: Sep 04, 2021

  • My sincerest condolences to you Pauline and Emily. I can still hear your mom's voice welcoming me into your family home and making sure I always enjoyed a wonderful homemade Ukranian meal. Her blueberry perogies were my favorite treat. Teenie always had a beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh when we told her all about our crazy adventures. I know she is reunited with Nick and both of them will be keeping an eye on you both just as she always has. Always in our hearts. - Posted by: Ronda Bell (Friend of the family) on: Sep 04, 2021

  • Our condolences to you Pauline and daughter on behalf of the Babey family of Transcona. Our mothers were friends and fellow parishioners of St. Michael’s for many years. Together they saw the parish grow and made many contributions to the families and children of the Parish. Our Mother Anna who passed away in 2020 always had a special place in her heart for you, Pauline. May your Mother Rest In Peace and May she be lifted to heaven in the arms of the angels. Eternal Memory! Вічная Пам’ять! - Posted by: Donna Cunningham (Friend) on: Sep 04, 2021

  • My deepest condolences to Pauline and Emily. It was always a treat when Auntie Teenie visited us in British Columbia. She had a wry sense of humour combined with a quiet strength of character that made her the rock of her little family. I remember the wisdom in her eyes and the obvious joy she took in her granddaughter Emily. I have no doubt that she knew how deeply she was loved, and that it was the love that she gave that came back to her. - Posted by: Lorraine (Niece) on: Sep 04, 2021
