JEANETTE (JEAN) MARY GAGNON
December 12, 1929 - August 20, 2021
Born in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Jean was the younger of the two daughters of Stan and Ethel Mazur (nee Auld). The family lived in Rycroft, Alberta until moving to Winnipeg in 1940. Jean was a graduate of Glenlawn Collegiate and Success Business College and worked at Revenue Canada, where she met her husband Barney (Bernard Gagnon). They married in 1951 and made their home in Winnipeg until moving to Southern California in 1957.
Jean had a wonderful, outgoing nature and made friends easily. She loved to entertain and warmly welcomed everyone to her home - including any Canadians who would drop in unexpectedly from time to time! Even when faced with health issues, Jean never lost her pleasant and fun-loving personality.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved Barney in 2003. She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her six children, Richard, Charlotte, Mona, Nadine, James and William, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her sister Kathleen Teillet of Winnipeg, and many relatives and friends from near and far.
A celebration of Jean's life was held on September 2 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westminster, California. The service can be viewed online at https://youtu.be/HkaF-atgD5g.
