BAUDOUINE (BUD) KORNE
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jeannine; children, Gordon (Martina), and Gary (Olga); grandchildren, Elissa (Stewart Mattis), Stephanie (Brad Jorgenson), Megan and Alex; great-grandchildren, Lea, Shea and Griffin; sister Rose-Adele Korne; many friends and relatives, and his beloved cat Sophie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nickolas and Louise; brother John; sisters, Carol and Sonia.
Bud was born on December 24, 1933 in Cooks Creek, MB and fondly remembered his childhood years being involved in many youth organizations.
One day, after moving to Winnipeg, a beautiful young woman caught his eye at the bus stop. That woman was Jeannine Beaulieu, and on September 6, 1958 the two were married. They raised their two sons, Gordon and Gary, in St. Boniface. In 1982, they bought their dream house on Lyndale Drive and lived there for 40 years, surrounded by good people - especially their neighbours Val and Hazen.
Bud's work career spanned from sales at Eaton's, to building furniture at Parkhill Bedding to his final favourite job as the Operation's Manager for Winnipeg Enterprises. He often mentioned how much he loved that job and wished he still worked there. He almost never missed watching a Jets or Bombers game on TV. His early retirement meant more time to be at the cottage. A place he loved. Bud and Jean were long time parishioners at Holy Cross Parish until their health prevented them from attending.
In 2020, they moved to River Ridge 2 Retirement Residence. River Ridge staff did an exceptional job looking after our parents. We are so grateful for their care. When Covid restrictions lifted, Bud and Jean were able to see their grandchildren and great-grandchildren again. Bud was happiest when surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. (Corner of Munroe Avenue and Brazier Street)
The family would like to thank the River Ridge 2 Retirement Residence staff as well as the Winnipeg Regional Health Home Care Program.
Donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 0R3.
