DOROSHUK: John Doroshuk left us for the 'field of dreams' in heaven on Saturday, September 11, 2021, he passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Place, Brandon, MB. Dad leaves behind his daughters, Deb (Kelly) Bessette and Karen (Peter) Dmytriw, grandchildren Justin and Taylor (Adam), Kaitlyn (Cody), Dylan, precious great-granddaughter Maeven, sisters-in-law Gayleen Stimpson, and Barb (Peter) Mikulin, brothers-in-law Gladwyn (Marguerite) Scott, Glennis (Faun) Scott, Harold Kopetsky and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Frances, parents Yomen and Pauline, and sister Mary. John was born in Stenen, SK August 30, 1933. He farmed with his parents in Stenen until they moved to a farm near Margaret, MB where he met his future wife, Frances Scott who was a teacher at Margaret School. Mom and Dad spent many weekends at ball tournaments and sports days. He was an amazing pitcher for the Ninga Vets and Teetaert's Turtles. Many evenings were spent at the old Riverside Ball Park, and listening to the Blue Jays on the radio on the way there. In the winter he loved going to Wheat King games, curling in the rural bonspiels and watching his Toronto Maple Leafs. Dad loved to play cards, which was a staple at every family event, even though we caught him cheating, he never would admit it. Dad and Mom retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Brandon. He worked delivering the Brandon Sun to surrounding communities which kept him in touch with farming. Dad stayed pretty close to home, but Mom managed to get him on a plane twice, once to Toronto to see the Blue Jays and secondly to Las Vegas where he had a blast. In his retirement he enjoyed going to the rink to watch curling, taking grandkids to the Winter Fair, many trips to casinos, going to the livestock yards to hang out with his farming buddies, coffee with the McDonald's gang, and just loved being around the grandkids – they always brought a smile to his face, he was so proud of them. Dad was hard working, generous, comical, and sometimes grumpy – but he was our dad, papa and great-papa and we will miss him so very much. Family graveside service was held September 21 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, with Kim Lewarne officiating.
