DONALD JAMES TOEWS

It is with sad hearts that our father, grandfather and uncle has passed away at 88 yrs old, Saturday, August 28, 2021. He will be also missed by many friends and colleagues he worked with for 20 years at Fosters Garden Chapel in Calgary, Alberta.
Dad left behind children, Cynthia Braun (Eric Braun), Sharon Toews and Michael Toews, grandchildren Adam Braun and Aaron Braun.
Donald was born in Steinbach, Manitoba May 26, 1933, and married Hilda Dyck from Winkler, Manitoba in 1959. Hilda passed away in February 1990.
Dad was connected to his family and community in Steinbach, however decided to move to Calgary in 1961 to pursue more working opportunity in automotive. He worked as district manager for Nissan and Mazda and took up strictly automotive sales in Chevrolet and Oldsmobile in 1970. Dad changed careers to assisting in funerals in the early 1990s. He absolutely loved it! As dad said...."I resigned and didn't retire!" He was in his early 80s!
Dad enjoyed tennis, golf and vacations with family. He took short visits out to Manitoba to visit family and friends, Victoria to visit Michael and Penticton to visit Cynthia and family. He loved taking his grandkids to as many fast food restaurants as possible....he loved Wendy's. Sharon lived in Calgary.
Always a Bible and book at his living room side table...he so cherished God's Word and watching Charles Stanley Bible Study broadcasts.
Dad was hospitalized at Foothills Hospital in January 2021. He passed away at Hillcrest Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta supported by loving nurses and care staff.
