STEPHEN JOHN HEWITT
Born: November 19, 1956
Date of Passing: September 5, 2021
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Rita Hewitt; father-in-law Elmer, and recently this past spring, his sister Debbie. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra; children, Jason (Jacqueline), Amber (Phil) and Justin, as well as Tasha who was like a daughter to Steve and Sandi; sister, Christine (Alan); brothers, Allan (Cathy), Tim (Anna) and George; brother-in-law Tony and sister-in-law Cindy (Jim); mother-in-law Ann Brown. Steve had six beautiful grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Jayden, Emma, Ellie, Callum, Jaxson, Ava and Noah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve's love for his grandkids was immense.
You could always count on Steve to make you laugh; he sure was a joker. Steve was born on November 19, 1956 in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1964. The family settled in Stonewall then Stony Mountain before moving to St. James where his sister Christine introduced him to his soulmate Sandi.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kumar, the nurses in the ICU and on the 4 floor, as well as Doug from Spiritual Health for being so supportive during our last days with Steve.
We love you and we will miss you tremendously. Rest easy Granddad.

I was just searching the web to see if I could find Steve after many many years and found this obit, I’m very messed over this. I was friends with Steve when we were young and lived together both in Winnipeg and in Calgary, Steve was quite the guy we got ourselves into some crap and got away with lots. Wish I could say something spiritual but that’s not me but as a old guy thinking he might connect with an friend from the past well I guess I miss him. Just thinking about Jetplanes. - Posted by: Dave Jolly (Friend ) on: Aug 13, 2023

I first met Steve when he was in junior high and he became friends with my Brother. He was always a happy guy with a smile on his face. Years later I ran into him and was still the same smiling happy guy. Quick to joke. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a great guy gone way too soon. - Posted by: Debbie Capon Maslanka (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2021

Condolences to the family. I went to school with Stephen, and remember him as such a kind and funny guy. Even years after he would phone and check up on me and we would talk for hours. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Terry Bottrell (Elrick) (friend/co-worker of Dawn) on: Sep 18, 2021

Thoughts and prayers to all of Steve's family. I was friends with him back when we were 16 and 17 respectively. He was always quick with a joke, and was the one who made us all laugh when one of us was feeling down. I have been living in the US for years now and I did get to see him at a store back in 2015. Same Steve, just older looking. Rest easy my friend. - Posted by: Rhonda (Hunter) Bishop (friend) on: Sep 18, 2021
