Richard spent his early years in Baldur, MB, studied electronic technology at Red River College and education at Manitoba Teachers College and graduated with a BA and BEd from the University of Manitoba. He taught in Holland, Treherne, Rossburn, and Beausejour.
He obtained his Amateur Radio Certificate in 1963 and was a founding member of the Amateur Radio League of Manitoba. Richard was active in the Manitoba Amateur Radio Museum at Austin and the International Ham Fest at the International Peace Garden.
His wife Bonnie predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his sons, Ross and Calvin; Bonnie's children, Debbie, Brad, Sharice, and Collin; his cousins; and his companion, Frances Andrusiak.
As Richard wished, there will be no funeral service. His ashes will be placed with Bonnie's in Beausejour Cemetery.

My condolences to you Dylan on the loss of your grandfather. He enjoyed having you visit Beausejour and he remembered when he used to pick you up for weekend visits.
