1958 - 2021

On September 14, 2021, Anne unexpectedly passed away at Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side.
She will be profoundly missed by her husband Bob; sons, Geoffrey and Matthew (Megan) and her granddaughter Neve. She will also be missed by her extended family including Sally Tully and her children, Mike Gyles (Donna), as well as her Isford cousins and their families.
Anne was predeceased by her son Chris; dear friend Doris; her parents, Lillian and Arnold and brother Paul.
Anne grew up in Southern California, but she found her home in Winnipeg where she met Bob and they settled in Waverley Heights. She was the consummate "people person," making lasting friendships through her sons' sports teams, through her neighbours on Lake Village Road, as well through her work at Finnen Bettis Finnen and Bell and latterly at Book Optical.
She was a loyal friend, who treated those close to her as family. She was generous with her love, laughter and support, often with a glass of wine or martini in her hand. It was always a party with Anne in the room. Her kindness and compassion extended to animals as well, especially all her pets.
Anne's zest for life included the many trips she and Bob took throughout the years. She truly loved hot destinations, but also enjoyed camping (glamping) and many pool parties with her family and friends and road trips over the border. She loved wine tours and participated in all activities she thought to be fun and adventurous.
Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Neve. In her role as Amma, she loved the time they spent together baking, crafting, hair braiding and shopping. Her shopping trips with Neve were epic, often lasting many hours and garnering many bags filled with special gifts.
Anne's greatest heartache was the passing of her son Christopher. The family finds comfort in knowing that they are now together, soaring with the eagles.
The family will be having a private graveside service at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society

  • Bob - Bailey and I send our sincerest condolences to you and the family! Our hearts are pained to hear of Anne’s sudden and untimely passing. Whenever we are walking the dogs past your Lake Lindero address, we stop and think fondly of our “garage/driveway” conversations - and the many neighbourly chats we enjoyed over the years! The world has truly lost a lovely soul! Take care, Kathleen McMillan (daughter Bailey) - Posted by: Kathleen McMillan (Neighbour) on: Sep 21, 2021

  • Hi Bobby, Geoff, Matt / Megan and Neve. So sorry to hear of Amma's sudden passing. So many hearts are hurting, our deepest condolences to all the family. Anne's love to family and friends was shown always and vise versa to her. The pool parties, rewarding pond ornaments created with love, Grand Forks, racing, we had all had a ton of fun together. Riding bike past Neve's baseball practice a bit ago, I heard Matt's voice calling and was a lovely surprise seeing you guys on the field enjoying one of your sports together. Hadn't seen Neve since she was a baby but what I saw says it all. Neve ran in from the field, hugged her Gramma, said "Love you Amma" and back out to the field, she was loving her day. Anny may you Rest in Paradise soaring with Chris and Dorris. Our thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: Lori and Lawrence Enns and family (Friends) on: Sep 20, 2021

  • We moved into our cute little side x side in the late summer of 1994. Little did we know then that we would be at the beginning of the best 4 years of our lives. #15 Lake Village Road has become a small piece of Heaven for our family…largely in part of the angelic and loving nature of Anne Gyles. She was ALWAYS the heart of the crescent. Love, joy, laughter and loyalty we’re her hallmarks. How sad to lose her so soon…but in the bigger picture…it makes sense for her to be amongst her fellow angels in Heaven. We’ll miss her. Oh how our hearts and prayers reach out to Bob and family. May God’s love and comfort encircle you at this tender time and going forward. We are honoured to have had a few years with your angel wife, mother and grandmother.❤️ The Mandins - Posted by: Tyler and Denise Mandin (Talesa and Torin) (Lake Village Road friends) on: Sep 18, 2021
