ALLAN GEORGE CARSWELL
Born: October 29, 1928
Date of Passing: August 12, 2021

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved husband, Allan Carswell. Al passed away peacefully on August 12, 2021 with me by his side. He was a wonderful husband and I'll miss him greatly.
Al was born in Winnipeg on October 29, 1928. He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Betty (Woollard) Carswell, as well as two brothers, Don and Ken.
Remaining to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife of 55 wonderful years, Vicki (Barkwell), is his brother Bob (Dorothy); nieces, Kim Carswell and her family, Karen Carswell (Gary) and family, Donna (Kerry) Johnson; nephews, Allan Carswell (Donna Yakimishyn), Rodney Carswell, Barron (Linda) Carswell and family, Craig Carswell; goddaughter Kerry (Stuart) and Dan Fraser, many cousins and good friends. He was overwhelmed by the support and attention he received from family and friends over the years.
Al attended General Wolfe and Daniel McIntyre schools in Winnipeg. He worked at Manitoba Hydro before moving to Vancouver in 1963 where he worked for United Grain Growers until his retirement in 1992.
Al started boxing in Winnipeg and was very pleased when Al Cummon asked him to join the BC Amateur Boxing Association as a referee and judge after he had moved to Vancouver. Together they travelled the province to judge and referee junior boxers.
Al was also a member of Sons of Scotland and the Kinsmen Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed card games with relatives and friends.
He loved to travel, whether it was to Winnipeg, Raw Hide Arizona, Netarts and Grants Pass Oregon or California to visit family and our wonderful friends. One of our best trips was to England and Scotland with his Mom and Dad to visit relatives there. It was a trip of a lifetime and so much fun meeting his Scottish relatives.
Second best trip was the year he retired, 1992, a 17 day cruise on the "Love Boat" from Vancouver to Hawaii to Tokyo. He said "life couldn't get any better".
He loved music and enjoyed the performances of 'the Preservation of Swing' at the Hyatt Regency hotel, monthly.
He always said "we have a wonderful life, good friends and we can't ask for anything more".
Our sincere thanks to Dr. Bligh Low and Dr. Louise Low for keeping Al alive and kicking for the last 20 years. Also to Bob and Dorothy, Bill and Brenda for your time and caring. Also to all the others, you know who you are. Thank you.
At Al's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no service. His ashes will rest in Ocean View Memorial Park.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, take your love or a friend out for lunch.
