MANFRED BUIKE

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Manfred Buike, on September 8, 2021, at the age of 80 at Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Manfred will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Rodney and Jason (Tansey). He will also be dearly missed by his two sisters, Rose and Monica; along with his niece, nephews and great-nieces and nephew.
He will be reunited with the love of his life Ursula, and his parents Willy and Irma Buike.
Manfred was born in Germany and came to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Ursula. They raised their sons in Oakbank, Manitoba where he lived until he retired in Lockport, Manitoba.
Manfred only had one speed - and that was fast. Whether at work as a general contractor or at home, he walked at a fast pace and rarely had time to explain his plan before he got started on a project. He was always there to lend a hand to his friends and neighbours.
Dad's passion was travel. He loved his regular trips to Hawaii and European river cruises. He met many great friends in his travels and loved sharing his photos with family and friends when he returned.
He also loved driving and could often be found cruising River Road with the top down, when he was not scavenging the riverbanks to collect driftwood for his air plant creations, or spending time with his friends on the deck.
A special thank you to all of his dear friends at his condo for all of their love, care and concern, especially over this last year.
A private service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at Green Acres Funeral Home. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions attendance is limited to invitation only. The service will be live streamed and you can access the Livestream link at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com in the Upcoming Services tab.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Interlake-Eastern Health Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Jason and Tansey: please accept my condolences for the loss of your dad. I only met him a few times but when I did he always impressed me with his personality, humour and his willingness to listen to anyone around. I am sure that you all are missing him but please be comforted by the fact that he is reunited with Ursula and other family and friends that have passed before him. Take it from me, it will get better but accept the change. Take care "Uncle Rick" - Posted by: Rick Law (Friend) on: Sep 25, 2021

  • Extending my deepest sympathy to Jason, Tansey and the Buike family on the passing of Manfred Buike. So very sorry for your loss. Wishing you all peace and comfort in the days ahead. • That's a perfect picture of Manfred - cruising in his convertible with his sunglasses on, he'd pull up to the hearing clinic and put his sunglasses up on his head just like the picture. He was a wonderful person. When he came for an appointment at the hearing clinic, no matter how small the thing we did for him, he was always so thankful. I will miss hearing his stories about his trips. Goodbye Manfred - rest in peace. - Posted by: Dianne (Winnipeg Hearing) on: Sep 22, 2021

  • So sorry to hear of your loss. Manfred and Ursula were our neighbours when we first moved to the city. They were both wondetful people. May memories of good times help you through these difficult days. - Posted by: Velma (Sundell) Lang (Willow Park neighbour) on: Sep 19, 2021

  • We are sorry to hear of Manfred's passing. He was our contractor when we renovated our store in 2006. He was very calm and competent through the construction, handling any changes or issues, quickly and without drama! A very nice man and I'm sure he will be missed by his family. - Posted by: William Henwood (Client) on: Sep 18, 2021
